What is it a traditional village pub... somewhere with good beers choice, a good food range of English classics but the odd extra, a nice summer garden seating area, and a building with old wooden beams... well this place has them all!!!

Short distance from the Avon & Kennet Canal. Food was excellent. Staff very helpful. Large car park at the rear which we were able to park our camper van inn overnight (Phoned in advance to confirm that this was ok-Britstop member) Very nice dining area. Real log fire.

The pub itself is fine - efficient good natured staff, good selection of ales, good atmosphere, plenty of parking. This review is no reflection on the hotel as we were a party of four and we had gone there to eat, and that wasn't quite so good. The ladies opted for fish and chips, and credit where credit is due,...

We were taken here for lunch when visiting relatives on a Sunday. The men had steaks which they enjoyed and the rest of us had the mushroom risotto which was tasty. I got to taste some of the sticky toffee pudding dessert that my husband ordered and it was delicious. The service from all staff was friendly and the food...

We had an overnight stay in an en suite room. It had a TV, tea and coffee and was a reasonable size. Unfortunately the bed was so uncomfortable with springs poking through we didn't sleep. Also the shower barely had any water coming out of it. The food however was excellent, both the evening meal and breakfast, as was the...

Went for Sunday lunch with family and had a very pleasant sunday lunch. It doesn't knock your socks off but is good value for money and not too far from the canal so perfect for walkers. We will probably go again.

Popped in on the off chance on a very cold Saturday lunchtime. Received a really warm welcome from the Landlord which is always a good start. Lovely old feel to the pub, log fires burning, old pews from the local church, a really nice setting. We decided to have lunch and it was very pleasant. Ample portions all round and...

Are from the Christmas menu. As a group we were disappointed in the size of the meal. There wasn't much veg, a few carrots, some undercooked parsnips and some frozen sprouts. Using fresh veg would have been a huge improvement. Would have been nice to have the vegetable in a side dish too. The roast pots were absolutely lovely.
