As you drive into the grounds the place looks so lovely with the Autumn colours and even the photographer said it was a dream to have such a background for his photographs. Such beautiful surroundings. Plenty of seats to soak up the afternoon sun.

The previous answer is correct in that the nearest station is Matlock and then it is bus or taxi. The reviewer who suggested that you could get to Manchester from Matlock had not made allowances for the closures instigated by Dr Beeching in 1966 since the line from Bakewell to Buxton (The Monsal Trail) is now a brilliant walking track with all the tunnels open to make a fascinating experience. The express bus into Buxton and then the train would be the simplest way to get to Manchester. Alternatively the local bus to Sheffield and then the train.
