Grand old-style but modern amenity hotel in the heart of Bristol. Great floor to ceiling room heights, fabulous service, and unexpected treats like wine served as you checkin in the evening. Even though the hotel was packed because of the Rugby World Cup, the staff always had time for us. Outstanding breakfast buffet - best I've had outside the USA....

We stayed here for two nights as we had tickets to watch the rugby in Cardiff. The décor of the hotel is looking a little tired and dated, with brass and mock-marble dominating a lot of the public areas and the en-suite in our room. The restaurant however looked new and sparky, possibly refurbed recently? On checking in we were...

I stayed at this hotel three nights a week for two years. I've stayed a bigger Marriott's with better facilities but nowhere have I ever felt more at home than the Royal, and that is entirely down to the staff. The hotel itself is good, although it's probably due a lick of paint in some areas and they should convert...

I stayed for a week and everything about the hotel was top notch! The staff was professional, courteous and always went above and beyond. From check-in to check-out this was a first-class experience. The restaurant and bars were excellent and having an espresso bar in the hotel in the morning (and afternoon!) was a huge plus.

Stayed here last minute for one night during the first weekend of the Rugby World Cup. Every hotel was either full or charging exorbitant rates for their rooms which included this one however, it wasn't the worse and you do always know what you're going to get with a Marriott. Beige hotels but good quality beige! However, I'm fussy and...

The first thing we found that about this hotel was that it wasn't easy to find the car park and when we did it was £16 for 24 hours! Check-in was good, quick with a very helpful member of staff. The room (721) was a suite which even had a doorbell outside. The room was okay but very tired and...

Wonderful staff. Wish all staff were so nice and helpful. Lovely comfortable bed and very good dos facility. The only thing I wasn't keen on was that I found it all a bit old fashioned and the music was too loud at breakfast. Overall I'd come back but then I am a Marriott fan.

This is a very fine hotel in a lovely and convenient part of bristol. A quality room and one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Staff helpful and friendly and if you wanted it the was a gym and a swimming pool. Some cosy lounge areas and bars to hide away in as well.

We stayed in a great double room for a romantic weekend away from the kids. The hotel was great, parking (if pricey) is on site and location is perfect for exploring all that Bristol has to offer. I was loud outside at 0400-0600 but that can't really be blamed on the hotel (better windows??) Breakfast was great - all round...
