The check in time is 5pm unless you arrange this prior with the hotel. The exterior of the hotel is in need of a lick of paint, the bar area as you enter is nicely presented but as you go up stairs you can't help but notice that the rest of the building needs some T L C. The room...

We visited the restaurant at The Farndon as we had been advised that the food was excellent with a varied menu. We live in Essex but were staying with family in Llangollen so we had to travel a few miles to get there - we were not disappointed! The regular menu was indeed varied and had at least 4 or...

Booked a table for a family meal but had to wait more than 30 mins to be taken to our table. The food when it arrived was very good but we were waiting a long time to be served and had to ask where our food was. Cheese board arrived with no knife and when we asked for mustard with...

Although the check in time was 1700, we arrived a little early to find the inn closed - we were a bit concerned until we realised it was part of a pub that only opens at 5. It wasn't difficult to kill time by going into Chester for a bit though. When we checked in, a lovely surprise was that...

We came to the Farndon for a small family celebration. We wanted a private room, with a choice of good food, and an informal atmosphere. A few of us also needed to stay. Michelle and Yvonne could not have been more helpful. Everything was easy to book, easy to arrange, they were flexible and friendly. When we arrived, we found...

The Farndon is a lovely quiet pub with comfortable bedrooms (not luxury, but nice). It was clean eith good facilities and free wifi. The food and staff were top notch, and while there were niggles, frankly The Farndon is heads and shoulders above chain hotels. I have already recommended it to colleagues and will stay again!

Recently enjoyed a special family birthday party for my wife at the Farndon, having been previously at another family celebration. Yvonne & her staff had really pulled the stops out! The private room was spacious, the table very attractive & well decorated, and the 10 adults & 4 small children had plenty of room & privacy without disturbing other guests....

A great base for walking along the River Dee and not too far from Wrexham / Chester etc if you have your car. This was an ideal spot for me on both counts. The room was very large with a full sized local photo adorning the wall, and despite the full restaurant downstairs and the main street outside, it was...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night. Mould was growing on the silicone in the shower enclosure. The toilet did not flush properly, the central light fitting was full of cobwebs. The bedside lights were useless if you want to read. The smell of cooking permeated the room, as the room is above the kitchen. The...

Me and my girlfriend took a short drive stay here for New year. The experience was great the owners Gordon and Yvonne were really welcoming and friendly, the room we stayed in was excellent with a lovely view of the fireworks from the Dukes estate. The breakfast the following morning was faultless and the "midnight buffet" on news year eve...

“We had the Stretton, very spacious and well equipped-though we did find the shower a challenge!! We only live about 300Yds away but we had given up our house to our daughter & family so consequently 2 nights of peace & quiet with the bonus of no breakfast cooking!”

“From our experience, we would expect them all to be of a similar standard. We had the Stretton room which was situated on the front overlooking the High Street. The room was very quiet and we were surprised that we couldn't even hear any traffic noise.”
