We had a Groupon deal for a Saturday stopover which included breakfast. The hotel was very big , busy and noisy especially in the bar areas at night. We drank and eat in the bar at night which was a bit expensive.....really we should have crossed the road to the Crier Pub and ate and drank there...it looked quite good...

We had rooms on the second floor over looking the station, beautiful big room, comfortable bed. For the time we actually spent in the room very comfortable and quiet. Lounges ok. Shower was a bit slow and could be a bit warmer but for the amount. Breakfast good did not eat any other meals in hotel. Reception staff always helpful...

Thoroughly enjoyed our nights stay in great comfort and the room was spotless. The Christmas party was so good, don't get allowed spirits on the all inclusive until after 10pm but there was plenty of wine, beer and bucks fizz available if you drink them. Staff were very, very good. Only downside was young people at other tables dancing on...

This hotel left me feeling confused, it is a beautiful building, fantastic size rooms and has the potential to be an amazing hotel. It's location is brilliant right opposite the train station, ample parking (extra charge). Walking distance to bars and the town centre. It was just ugh, we stayed in an Queen suite, this room was a little dated but...

The lobby reception area and corridors reek of cigarette smoke. On arrival to our Company festive party event we were led to a very dark room crammed with tables. The first course was revolting. Supposedly a fish cake it was a soggy tasteless pink mush. The carvery was acceptable the vegetables in particular were well cooked and plentiful. I was...

Pros Check-in process - efficient with friendly staff (contrary to some previous reviews). Building – interesting. A writer of fiction (Charles Dickens) stayed here and a fictional baby (Jack Webster) was conceived here. Bed - clean and VERY comfortable. We slept well. TV - large, good quality, working remote. Décor in the bedroom – quite cool (we were in a...

Amazing hotel, rooms were clean and accommodating, we had a good view! Breakfast was also nice, and all staff were lovely and helpful. Car parking can be busy and expensive! You can pay for parking and not even be guaranteed a space on the car park! Which is a downside! Another pain is the hotel room keys as we had...

Just back from 2 night stay at The Queen hotel, City Rd, Chester. Bargain break from Super Breaks. Overall the hotel is very pleasant, with an imposing entrance, staircase and reception. A true Victorian period building with interesting features. Plenty of choice with a public bar, high standard restaurant and lounge area.9 Our deal included breakfast and dinner on the...

Not impressed Overall our experience was that the staff were unfriendly, unhelpful, rude and it felt as if we were an imposition - as if we were in the way. We booked a treatment at the Sanctuary with a meal and the whole experience has been very disappointing Will be going to the Grosvenor next time!
