Service very good, booked a double room through Tripadvisor & they messed up, booked us into the only room they had left, disabled room. But when i phoned the hotel they more than put it right, relocated to room 213 with a balcony excellent view (Jools Holland stayed in the room last year). Lots of pubs, restaurants, & walks.

My wife and I live just outside Looe and often pop in on the bus. After a walk around town we sometimes stop at the Porbythan for a bottle of wine on the terrace overlooking the river. Great views, nice wine and the staff always pleasant as indeed are the Welsh guests at the hotel with whom we frequently take...

I would rather give a good report than a bad one but I was not impressed with the Portbyhan hotel, it all looked very nice when I saw it on the web sight but when we arrived we found the lounge area to be nothing but a tiny room with two settees and a TV set. There was no lounge...

We still come to Looe every summer and I always walk past and wonder how much it has changed. The main staircase and the warren of dark corridors upstairs are the only things...

Stayed here last week as part of a bus trip, such a lovely friendly hotel, rooms on the third floor although have a sea view are very small, bathrooms very small and if you are a certain size the shower won't close. The room was very clean. The food was first class even managed to get veggie sausages. Shame the...

Two adults and one 14 month old. Lifts and everything to make the pushchairs trials less of a chore. All the staff were awesome and switched on to our needs, particularly reception and meal times. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Third stay now, first with a child and could not recommend anywhere more, honestly! It was that good!

An excellent hotel in a delightful location perfect for exploring the local area. Food, service and hospitality first class> many places of interest in the surround and the town itself full of charm and good eating places. Crab very fresh and gorgeous.

Loved this hotel. Last minute over nighter just passing through. Great Staff, Fantastic restaurant food, and would go back. Room only down side with view of a kitchen vent outside of window. But it was very clean and comfy. And last minute.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Portbyhan Hotel is located quayside in the heart of the beautiful Cornish fishing town of West Looe. West Looe is still a functioning fishing town and the hotel's location provides guests with great views of 'hustle and bustle' going on every day in the picturesque harbour. The family run hotel has a reputation for being one of the most popular hotels in Looe purely through recommendations by guests who have stayed in the hotel. All the guest bedrooms in the hotel are en-suite, clean and comfortable. All rooms come with all the modern facilities guests expect such as Colour TV and hair dryer. Many bedrooms have fantastic views of the harbour and/or town. Our Riverside Restaurant and The Portside Brasserie are ideally situated to provide fantastic views across the quayside both offering great locally sourced fresh food and unbeatable service. The hotel has a well-stocked bar so guests can enjoy a cold beer, Cornish Cider, glass of wine or local soft drinks from Cornish Orchards. There is a lot to offer within walking distance including the bus stop, train station, local gift shops, 5 minute walk to 3 beaches, next to the ferry going to East Looe, Bowling club and tennis courts, and just outside our front door we have the biggest swimming pool stretching right around the country and its free!
