So we really like nice hotels - the ones with spas that sort of thing. The ship isn't like that , in fact it's a welcome breath of unpretentious fresh air. The rooms are simply done in tasteful style, the pub itself is part of the community and serves good food and great ale - watch out for the Cornish...

Having been coming to the Ship Inn on visits to Porthleven since I was old enough to see over the bar, I can't recommend it highly enough! The menu specials are always fantastic and the surroundings are cosy. Good beer, good service and a good pub quiz, too. An absolute gem!!

We had visited The Ship many times, but had never stayed before. This time we booked Room 3, which has a perfect window seat that looks straight across the harbour and out to sea. You must have to book very early if you want to have a ringside seat for the village's Christmas lights, but what a perfect vantage point....

Great food pleasant bar staff enjoyed the beer especially proper job. The pub has an unspoilt charm and the clientele whilst mostly holidaymakers had a good sprinkling of locals. Situated right on the harbour front you'd struggle to find a more pleasurable setting.

This was our first time in mousehole, so we popped into the ship inn and were rewarded with a very warm welcome. Good beer, food, great friendly staff. Amazing hot chocolate with brandy and marshmallows, just what you need after our little boat trip on the cormorant skipper Mike (MBE). We were only in Mousehole for 7 days and we...

Went for lunch and was quietly surprised by the choice of beers and ciders and lagers on offer. Went for the Cornish lager. Ordered fish of the day and a ploughmans platter. Both arrived very quickly and the ploughmans was indeed a platter! My plate was covered with all that you would expect including local chutney, pickles, Cornish ham and...

We have visited this lovely pub on many occasions over the past 4 years. But this last time there seemed to be an atmosphere as apparently no locals now drink there and it didn't have the same romantic feel it use too!! The food has def gone downhill - they use to do a gorgeous fish pie and that was...

Having visited The Ship Inn over many years (47!) it was very disappointing to see that the, once amazing food, has gone down hill. Very limited menu with zero specials board on the two visits that we made. Only ending up eating here once, whereas previously we would have been frequent diners. The Ship used to have a good selection...

The Ship Inn is in this lovely Cornish town. The inn sits overlooking the quaint harbour and so has a great view. We didn't stay in the hotel but just had lunch which was very good. There is a very good selection of St. Austell beers. Well worth a visit.

Ate here mid week. Superb fish pate to start, followed by a large portion of fish and chips, yummy crispy batter, and lemon roulard to finish. All large portions so we did shsre a starter and dessert. Very comfortable ambience. Will visit again.
