2022 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Welcome to the Claremont Hotel. We are a small, privately-owned hotel centrally positioned in the heart of Polperro, less than three minutes walk from what is probably the prettiest fishing harbour in south east Cornwall. The Hotel faces south overlooking the valley and rooftops, and is ideally positioned for the village attractions and facilities. Please note: we are an exclusively adult-only 18+ hotel and we are dog-friendly in selected rooms.

Lovely hotel, everyone (Di, Becky, Juliet and Chef) from the hotel was so friendly and helpful, such a change in this day and age where you are not just a room number. Would not hesitate to go there again in fact, our dog Poppy is looking forward to her next breakfast sausage already.

Our second stay and will not be our last. Stayed in the summer and recently in March both times the service at the hotel have been welcoming. Excellent location with parking which is a bonus worth every penny. Staff could not be any more helpful and friendly . Breakfast and the drinks machine were excellent. Rooms fresh and clean, we stayed in a dog room which was lovely no signs of dogs. Would not hesitate to have this room again and maybe bring my dog .

My husband and I visited Polperro and stayed at the Claremont on our first visit to Cornwall. I had read a wonderful review in our National Canadian paper which recommended the hotel and town. Stuart, Juliet, Di snd Becky were great. Delicious breakfast, lovely location, beautiful lounge with coffee tea machine and honesty bar. We visited off season as we wished. Lots of information from hotel personnel where to eat, visit, which bus to take. We were even given a breakfast sandwich for our early departure. A wonderful visit and we heartily recommend the Claremont, Polperro and Cornwall.

Our first stay at the Claremont - second visit to Polperro. A very pretty place in a great location. The communal lounge area is beautifully presented and welcoming with complimentary hot drinks and a really well stocked honesty bar with a variety of drinks and snacks. Although we are dog owners ourselves, we didn’t bring our pooch and had some reservations that a dog friendly hotel may cause some smell etc but our room was very clean and smelt fresh and airy certainly didn’t appear to have had pooches to stay. The room however was very small - sadly too small for us - found it quite cumbersome to try to manoeuvre around and a lack of space and power points to be able to get ready easily - but didn’t detract from it still being a pretty room, great views, location and a super comfy bed. Breakfast on all three days was lovely and presented beautifully. A good choice and such friendly service. Would absolutely return but unfortunately not to room 3 which may be served better as a single or may benefit from some clever space saving ideas.

Beautiful hotel with lovely friendly staff. Our room was at the front overlooking the village..loved the toiletries and the fluffy towels. The bed is fab it’s super king size and sooo comfortable. Nice seating area with tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge. Breakfast was fantastic served in a lovely breakfast room by a lovely friendly lady. Lounge area downstairs with a honesty bar (very well stocked) is a nice touch. Car park is an added bonus opposite the hotel. Love Polperro and will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

The Claremont Hotel is great! It’s centrally located in lovely Polperro, with private parking nearby. My husband and I stayed here for three nights whilst walking the SW Coastpath and it was ideal for us. We were able to leave our car and travel to the start of our walks by bus or taxi, then hike back. Room 2, which has an en-suite shower room, was quiet, comfortable and clean. The two chairs by the window were a welcome bonus - our booking stated that it had a village view so it made us smile when we realised that this is a model village! It faces the road at the front but this only had occasional vehicles using as the public car park is outside the town. Being able to buy early evening drinks from the honesty bar was super, The breakfasts were delicious but it’s worth noting that you are expected to book your time slots in advance. As we needed early starts, Becky, the friendly receptionist, kindly added an extra 07:45 slot for us. Di, our one and only waitress, was tremendous. She was always cheery and helpful. We think we saw the owner, Stuart, but, in contrast, he wasn’t at all communicative. Polperro is a terrific harbour village with great pubs and restaurants, especially the Blue Peter, where you do need to arrive early to put your name down for food; Turntable for delicious pizzas; and the House on the Props for fabulous cream teas. I recommend The Claremont for a delightful stay, especially out of season.

We are so glad we found this hotel. We normally stay in self catering cottages in Polperro but decided to give this hotel a try….so happy we did! Parking so convenient, rooms immaculate and a fabulous breakfast. Great freindly owners and staff. The honesty bar and free tea and coffee in the lounge are a great feature, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back, Thankyou.
