On arrival I asked if I needed to order at the bar. Yes so I ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc and a glass of Muscadet. They would not take my order instructing me to take a seat and they would take my order at the table. After 20 minutes wait I went back to the bar and they said...

I stayed in what was described as a 'superior' room. The room was clean, enhanced by prints of Alfred Wallace & Ben Nicholson but rotting window frames and a ghastly view detracted from the description. The breakfast was OK for me but lacked the normal choices of omelettes, fish, vegetarian selections. I dined there and was positively surprised and the...

While visiting St Ives our party were looking for some where for a drink and lunch. Most of the pubs were far too crowded but when we looked in the Queens Hotel we found a bright, very pleasant welcoming bar area with plenty of free tables. Not always a good sign but not in this case. The young girl working...

We stayed at the Queens Hotel in March 2016. The room we stayed in was very nice - quiet, clean, cosy. A little bit small but fine for us. Great service from every staff member we encountered. Negatives were it was quite expensive - but then so is everywhere else in St Ives. Also the breakfasts were not great which...

We had 5 rooms over the bank holiday weekend for a birthday get together. The staff at the Queens hotel were great in helping me to organise the weekend and were very accommodating when there were a few changes. Breakfast was huge and great quality and the rooms were better than the pictures online!!

Party of 8 for evening out. Food was really good, gastro pub / hotel. Even the burgers looked tempting. If you enjoy nice food give it a go. Good choice of beers wines. Try the mussels, they were divine. I would recommend that they offered this dish in a larger portion as a main as well as a starter. Staff...

Spent 3 nights in room 7 - up top. Well worth the climb. Ate in on one occasion and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Breakfast cooked to order and delicious. The hotel is well placed in the centre of town and very welcoming.

Our room was very small but nice enough for people that weren't spending much time in it. Location is really handy, allowing us to pop in and out when the spring weather can't make up it's mind what it wanted to do. Staff were fine, and the Saturday night live night in the pub below didn't go on late (wasn't...

Went here for a few nights with a group of friends and would not go again. Hotel fors: good location, very helpful and friendly staff, good choice and quality food. Hotel againsts: narrow dark staircase to upper floors (no lift), poor lounge area for hotel residents, small rooms, décor tired and in need of refurbishment and no car park. I...

The Queens Hotel was lovely but just missed on the touches that would have made it special - bed comfortable, breakfast good, great location, friendly staff but just no wow factors. We were in a front room which was noisy on a Saturday night but we weren't surprised. And parking was a challenge but just part of being in St...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Queen's Hotel is a late-Georgian, three-story building in the heart of picturesque St Ives. 5 mins from the harbour and beaches, we have ten en-suite bedrooms, which have been redecorated with vintage furniture and Cornish artwork hanging on the freshly painted white walls, plus sparkling new bathrooms with new showers. Downstairs is a relaxed and friendly bar with delicious pub food that was awarded an AA rosette in 2011. Everything is prepared on the premises - the menu is chalked up on the board daily using the finest local, seasonal ingredients Cornwall has to offer. Bread baked daily. Homemade ice-cream. Local beers. Warming fire. Children are very welcome: upstairs a camp bed and a travel cot are available to borrow, all windows have black-out blinds; downstairs there are boardgames + toys in the light and airy bar, baby-changing, and children's portions available. The harbour front and Fore Street are under five minutes walk away. Selected by Alastair Sawdays. ... more   less
