First time in The Rising Sun and pleasantly surprised. Quite a few locals but also catering for day trippers. However we were neither but in search a a quick lunch. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Lunch was good - scampi and ham egg and chips. All done well with a very quick service

We visited the pub on two evenings for a large family meal during our stay at St Mawes. On both occasions we found the meals and service good for the price and standard of hostelry. Good local pub beer is available.

We came for a drink and light lunch. Basic pub with some local beers, standard pub menu with seafood. The decor could do with refreshing but if you want a pint and a bite this is perfectly fine. Don't think I would come for a dinner or celebration meal.

The sun was shining, table free outside on a lovely October lunch time. Fresh dressed crab was yummy, my husbands fish and chips were fresh and dry! Lovely atmosphere a perfect end to a lovely long weekend break, thank you

We ate in the Rising Sun on Tuesday night and enjoyed the gammon, egg & chips - good sized portions and good value. Service was good and cheerful. The dessert menu was limited and slightly out of step with the range of starters and main courses on the menu. We enjoyed our meal and booked for the following night for the...

Thoroughly enjoyed eating fish, chips and mushy peas sitting outside watching all the comings and goings of the town and harbour. A good local pub, serving a menu of typical pub grub, and friendly staff.

Nice setting- lovely sitting outside in the sun, but that's it really. Lunch was mediocrity personified-a microwaved baked potato stuffed with very inferior baked beans and a tiny sprinkling of cheese. Cost was £7.95 which was quite extortionate. I ordered a still mineral water and was given a sparkling. There was an indifference in the staffs' manner which was quite...

Had a really good lunch here. St Mawes is a lovely old harbour town, and expensive. The Rising Sun offers good food, served all day with an extensive choice of main meals and snacks. Not cheap but St. Mawes isn't cheap. We wanted a light snack as we were walking from our campsite near St Just in Roseland. We chose...
