Absolutely astounded!!!! Had planned to have small reception for my daughters wedding in July.... this venue had been reserved since February & several rooms reserved for guests.. as well as rooms at New Inn b&b. Having phoned today to reserve a further room, my daughter was informed that her reception had been cancelled due to a gig regatta!!! Although they...

We had to wait a while for our food which is no problem to us at all if the food is good! However, the fish and 'frozen' chips were tasteless and the fishfingers served in a seeded bun was actually served as battered small pieces of fish in white sliced bread. All for over £18. Absolutely disgusting. A lovely view...

Had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My parents live locally and I'd always wanted to stay there. We stayed in Room 18, the newly converted sail loft, which is amazing. Bright, airy, spacious and modern with lovely views. Try and stay there if you can. We had one dinner in the bar which was quite good and two...

We spent a couple of days enjoying the beautiful scenery in this tranquil setting. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were good, with an overriding sense of generosity throughout, no disappointing one tea bag pots of tea at breakfast, a full pot with three bags! Highly recommended!

Walking the coastal path decided on a lunch stop in Clovelly. A very limited menu and about three of the choices were ''off''. The meals are vastly overpriced - £11.50 for a Ploughman's? Soup was accompanied by a white roll with a slice of limp brown bread as the only alternative. Perfunctory service and no attempt at greeting the customer...

A two day stay in April at this favourite hotel. Our room overlooked the small beautiful harbour, into which the local fisherman brought their daily catch. There is so much to see and do in the area - coastal walks, visiting the unspoiled village and the ancient church, and much more. The restaurant provided excellent breakfasts and even better dinners...

In our short stay we were well pleased with the hotel. If your staying at the hotel you can drive down to the harbor and not lug a bag or case over the cobbles all the way down. Good welcome on arrival and we were given a room in a converted sail loft building with high exposed beams (room 19...

My husband and I visited clovelly which is a must if you are visiting Devon. At the bottom of the village and right on the harbour is the Red Lion. We were lucky to get a seat outside with a beautiful view of the the harbour and coast line. For lunch we had a crab sandwich which was delicious, would definitely...

Stayed here for just the 1 night in March as it was on offer. Very friendly check in. Had a few beers in the bar as the 6 nations rugby was on on a large tv Drink prices were ok. We decided to eat in the bar as we felt comfortable there. Service and food were both ok. The room...

Thanks for your review of The Red Lion - I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, we have recently replaced a lot of the mattresses in the hotel - I am not sure which room you stayed in but think it would probably been changed.
