Our fish and chips is always made with fresh fish, never frozen, with homemade beer batter and we think you can definitely taste the difference. We look forward to welcoming you again soon....

We just managed to book the last room, which was very nice with four poster bed, as we have a big dog, 3 1/2 flights of stairs to get to bed probably wasn't ideal but fun! I particularly liked the slightly rickety but ingenious staircase which is a feature in the centre of the hotel. Very friendly happy staff, great...

Stayed at this hotel at the weekend. It was our second stay, the first being in October for my birthday and we loved it so much we booked again for my husband's birthday! The staff are lovely particularly the gentleman on reception, I didn't catch his name, Phil the barman and the restaurant staff in the morning at breakfast time....

We stayed here for one night and my friend booked it as it is dog friendly. Firstly, they valet park your car, the reception staff are so friendly and the actual hotel is very quaint and beautiful. Very English. We had a twin room and a dog bed with some treats and a toy for Dylan the doggie. Gorgeous and...

Extra touches for the dog (dog bed and toy and treat). The building is beautiful inside with a lot of history attached to it. We would...

As long time customers of the RC I am left wondering if it's gone down market or if I've gone upmarket. AWell a river view room is not cheap so it wouldn't seem unreasonable for everything to function in the room and little extras like a shower would be present, even the tissues bore a likeness to old fashioned Izal....

Had a late lunch in the Royal Castle today, which is a very traditional old English pub. Very friendly staff and busy with customers , even late in the afternoon. We both had sandwiches , beef and crab, and both were delicious and generous in fillings. Having seen others, we also had a portion of sweet potatoe fries. Well it...

We went in at lunch time (just after midday) intending to order a simple bar snack, but were intercepted at the bar door and 'persuaded' to try upstairs 'at same price' off a printed 6-choice menu. We were shown to a window-table in a delightful light and airy dining room (which we remembered from some years ago) with open views...
