Found this place on 'What's happening in the South Hams' website. We were looking for a nice pub with good food and some live music to relax to on a Sunday evening. What a little gem? Loved the décor, ambience, cosy feel and laid back atmosphere. The landlord ;Charlie' was very pleasant, warm and friendly and the barman/waiter was incredibly...

Visiting Dartmouth for the afternoon and wanted a cup of tea and came across the Bayards Cove Inn. It looked good from the outside so went in. We ordered a coffee, a tea and two cheese scones which would be brought to our table. The drinks arrived about 10 minutes later (only about a dozen or so people in the...

I wanted to visit here because of the program "The Coroner". What a surprise it was to arrive here on 8th January as a birthday surprise on 9th for my 65th Birthday. This 14th Century Inn is amazing, the atmosphere friendly and warm. The room was excellent and large. We had an evening meal where we were able to relax...

What a lovely place to go and enjoy excellent food. We had a really good beer and our lunch was so good. I've been to Bayard's a few times and sat by the fire and shared a bottle of wine with friends and had nibbles - its never failed to be comfortable and welcoming. I took a good friend of mine for lunch here on New Year's Eve and we had the smoked salmon ploughmans and the calamari - both excellent. The...

My partner and I revisited from earlier in the year because we loved the feel of this pub. Looks great, cosy and really pretty. We arrived on weds night at 8:40 and it was quiet. The waitress checked if it was ok for us to eat, but I got the impression it was a disappointment they had customers. Our meal...

Absolutely loved our stay at this small hotel. Very comfortable room, dog friendly, spotlessly clean. The staff were so helpful, kind and attentive. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Great service. Wonderful breakfast. Great place for a quiet winter break.

A rather quirky Tudor Inn, right in the centre of town. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. The rooms are tastefully decorated so that they are modern without spoiling their character. The food is excellent.

Stayed here for a weekend with the dinner & BB option. The room was very comfortable, this is a very old building so some of the floors are uneven but this just adds to the charm. The evening menu was very well thought out and the specials board offered a good choice. The service was also friendly and professional. Although...

£8.30 for a pint of beer and half a cider. Used to be a good place, no longer. Prices here are more than pubs in Belgravia and Mayfair. Absolutely no atmosphere and an utterly confused identity. Not sure what it is really.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This small friendly hotel is one of Dartmouth’s oldest and most interesting buildings. It was originally constructed as a Tudor merchant's house and would have been a welcome sight when the Pilgrim Fathers stopped off at Bayards Cove on their way to America in August 1620. The hotel is conveniently situated in Bayards Cove in the centre of this lovely town, with the market and main shopping area only a short level walk away. Guests are sure to enjoy the unique character of the hotel and its thoughtfully refurbished luxury rooms, all of which have freeview, televisions and DVD players, and some also enjoy views over the water of the cove. ... more   less
