What a fantastic cottage in the Devon countryside. Beautiful little cottage on a working farm , what seemed like a million miles away from anywhere , but close to the village for essentials . And to make it that little bit more special , Sandra , the owner , was on hand for anything we wanted. We even had milk...

First of all it is super easy to find. We booked the smallest cottage and when we arrived the door was unlocked with the keys in it. As we walked in we found the fire lit (It is February!) and the heat on. Wonderful warm cozy space with everything you could want. Our host came over soon after to welcome...

We've been to Highdown Farm many times over the last twenty-odd years. During that time we've stayed in all three cottages: The Farmhouse is fantastic for big family holidays; Poorman's Cot is lovely for a smaller family; the Cider Barn is perfect for two. The Cider Barn is the cottage we've stayed at the most. It's full of character and...

This place is fantastic. After travelling around for a couple of weeks to lots of places, we were travel weary and in need of a bit of a rest. This place was perfect to recuperate before we set off again (and we were able to clean our clothes - brilliant!). We stayed in a one-bedroom 400 year old cottage, which...

Have just come back from our weekend stay at the Cider Barn and had the most lovely time. Sandra was very welcoming and friendly and it was so nice to arrive to such a well equipped, clean and beautiful cottage, which immediately felt very homely, even with milk in the fridge and fresh farm eggs! Open the door and the...

We recently stayed at Highdown Farm, taking all 3 cottages for a family-gathering over 2 nights. The owners were exceptionally accommodating allowing us all to eat together in the large house. The rooms are pleasantly furnished with plenty of living space. The log fires are a real plus during the wet and cold. Just a shame we couldn't stay longer...

We stayed in The Cider Barn. First class accommodation and the special touches made our stay very comfortable. Very warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful setting and views. We will definitely be going back and would definitely recommend that you go for a visit.

We stayed in Poormans Cottage on Highdown Farm for a week in the summer with our two children (aged 5 and 7). The cottage was lovely, very homely, with the comfiest beds we have ever slept in. We were particularly impressed by how well equipped the kitchen was. Plenty of plates and bowls, plus decent plastic crockery for the kids....

We couldn't have asked for more, the house was clean and comfortable, everything was provided. Sandra was very helpful and kind, she took my sons out for a ride on her Shetland pony, the kids loved the animals and the play area. I would do certainly go back again.

Stayed at the little cottage for 2 nights last week, cannot praise or recommend enough. Spotlessly clean, little personal touches, amazing views, wonderful hosts on a working farm, full of character but updated tasteful design. Peaceful and easy to get to, ideal base to explore area. Have already booked to go back later in the year. Well done Sandra and...

“My partner is 6ft 5in and we changed booking from the ciderbarn to the poormans cottage as thought it might be rather cramped for somone his size. Glad we did , kingsize bed in poormans cottage, very roomy. Cider barn bedroom would have been too cramped.”
