Stayed in this city centre hotel in April 2021; car parking is £12 overnight but you need to arrive early to get a space but other car parks are available nearby. Bags were stored pre-checkin by a helpful, and informative team member. Returned mid-evening and was booked in by a very friendly receptionist. Room 114 is best avoided though, billed as ‘accessible’ (which it is) but no heating, no hot water, no TV remote and no kettle. All issues bar the hot water resolved promptly and with suitably friendly apologies, but this hotel is tired and the only reason to stay is location, price and the affable and helpful staff - otherwise the usual budget Travelodge and Premier Inn’s are the better bet. Shame really, I’ve usually found Accor hotels to be more contemporary and ‘on the ball’ - housekeeping at The Rougemont needs some attention sadly.

I called up customer service and asked them if I can stay due to a funeral I need to attend to. My sister who lives in Exeter (I live in Coventry which is a 3+ hour drive) passed away and her kids arranged a funeral for me to attend to. The lady I spoke to (Gillian) said I can attend if I get proof in the form of an invitation through an email. I was confused because I've never received an "invitation" to a funeral and did not receive one for my sister's. I asked her how can I possibly ask her mourning kids to look for a way to get me an "invitation". She said that's the only way I can use the hotel. After reluctantly asking my sister's mourning kids for an "invitation" they said they don't know what such thing is. I called the hotel back and it was the same woman who originally asked for the "proof". After discussing they have no idea where to get this "invitation" she then claimed she did not ask for proof through an "invite" and asked me to send her an email of the details of the funeral as if she was going to attend herself. I tried explaining how she did not say this before hand and could have saved my nephew from stressing over it but she didn't want to listen started to talk over me and then cut the phone off. Absolutely rude and arrogant behaviour.

We stayed there last January and the hotel was lovely and the staff were very accommodating, there is a coop nearly for any essentials you forgot. The food was lovely and couldn’t fault the stay. The beds were so comfy and it was a lovely part of town, really central to all the amenities.

I think it is more of a dog kennel than a hotel

We booked a twin room for three nights at an amazing price direct with the hotel. The room was a fair size, spotlessly clean with sufficient amenities including an iron and board. It was clearly stated at reception the measures in place due to Covid. There would be no staff entering the room, but any requests for towels or additional toiletries/coffee etc could be collected from reception. Unfortunately due to an unforeseen problem, we had to leave the hotel after our first night. The receptionist was able to process a refund for the rest of the booking. Amazing value, courteous staff and a warm, clean room. What more could we want? We certainly will use this hotel when we need to visit Exeter again.
