I stayed here in December as part of a visit to the local area. Really enjoyed the swimming pool and the sauna (15 minute slots, two people in the sauna). Friendly staff and the Quay/river area is within 10 minutes walk.

Adequate hotel, really comfortable bed and lovely shower and bathroom. However furniture a little shabby. I found the desk staff on check in abrupt and rude (but every other member of staff delightful from then on). Check in staff where very insistent that I should pay the 15 pounds parking and insistent that I would not be able to park else where. I informed him that I already had planned parking else where, he was very dismissive of me. The staff member also was dressed in a scruffy jacket/waist coat covered in possible dandruff. He was also very abrupt and rude while asking for my reason for staying, no eye contact or smiling throughout this process. I felt like I was being looked down on. I'm and ITU nurse who was working in Exeter the following day, to reduce the tiredness, from long travel before a 12 hrs shift. Also to have a relaxing walk around Exeter, to relieve some of the stress I've been under, I thought a nights stay would be a good thing. However, I now have had a parking notice for parking in the car park for 27 minutes, I am now being charged £60 for a 12 minute over stay. No registration number was taken for my car, or asked for, no explanation that the car park was timed and was essential to stick to 15minutes only. No apologies for delayed check in period that contributed to this delay. I now have to pay £60 I could do without spending and have further increased my stress levels.

Good afternoon and thank you for your comments. I am very sorry that you found one member of the team to not be as helpful as the others. I was disappointed to read this and will remind all team members of the importance of great guest service, something you did not receive for which I apologise again. I will share all of your feedback with the team and we will endeavour to do better next time. Matthew Loe General Manager

Well appointed hotel with close proximity to City Centre. I actually stayed in a Privilege room, which is of a decent standard and at a great rate. Didn't eat at hotel because of Covid19 restrictions no can't comment on standard of food. Only one negative for me, £15 charge for car parking. Seems to be a bit of standard City centre thing, which for a customer, always feels like you're being ripped off. They're are much cheaper alternatives nearby.

Just finished my stay here and I couldn’t be more pleased or happy with the staff and how welcome I was made too feel. Obviously working double hard under the current conditions we are under but my room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, staff were polite, friendly and couldn’t do enough for me, even pointing me in the right direction for a lovely grab and go breakfast they were offering which I would have had no idea about. A great stay with friendly, helpful staff. I will defiantly be visiting again. Thank you.
