Very central - just 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral Close. Lovely bedrooms and very helpful staff. Slightly disappointing breakfast. (But it is a small hotel so the choice has to be a little bit limited.) We went by train but saw that you could park in the street after 6pm. Our friends parked in a nearby car park.

We stayed in the hotel on the night of our wedding. We arrived late at around 00:45 in the morning. A gentleman greeted us upon arrival he was very helpful showing us to our room and getting us a fresh bottle of water nice and cold from the fridge as the bar had already closed. Upon entering the room me...

We booked into the Southernhay hotel for a stopover on route from London to Cornwall. It was the perfect location for us. It was 5 minutes walk to the centre, restuarants and shops. We had never been to Exeter before so being so close to the Cathedral was great. Southernhay Hotel is central but on the opposite of the Cathedral...

I have stayed here regularly and have always enjoyed it immensely, but the shine has gone of it completely when I turned up this time and was told to park my car 300 meters away in a public car park because from what I can work out from the staff, the owner thinks cars parked outside the front makes his...

Stayed here on my way to Exeter - the reception area is quite strange, a living room with a desk? But the hotel is fantastic. My room was huge! I literally had to climb up the bed! I enjoyed some drinks on the terrace and had a fantastic cooked breakfast in the morning! Check it out!

Great location, close to shopping and the quay. Clean comfortable room. Looked like bathroom was recently remodeled. Staff were friendly and helpful . Restaurant was very good as well. We ate there both nights.

Stayed here for the first time for just one night being in Devon on business. Firstly impressed by the friendliness of the welcome and then by the really stylish nature of the property. I stayed in Silk and previous reviewers have commented on the stained carpet. Yes it is ( white carpet in a hotel room is probably not a...

My partner and I spent 5 nights at the Southernay House Hotel in the Tulip room, which was a very smart combined bedroom and enormous bathroom with a grand roll-top bath as the centrepiece. In fact the bathroom was bigger than the bedroom! The room was well decorated and the bed was soft and comfortable. Slightly disconcerting to have a...

The location of this hotel is excellent if you want to be in central Exeter, near the cathedral, shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is in a beautiful building which has maintained many of its period features. The staff are excellent, food is simple but good and a great bar. The rooms are lovely with big, comfortable beds which is...

We had a second stay at this lovely house hotel. Positives were the really comfy bed/pillows, individual room designs, great breakfast, friendly staff, lovely old house and the location - just minutes from the city centre and the cathedral. Negatives are that in the room we stayed in, Chai, there was not much space to put our 'stuff' - fine...
