I had a really lovely manicure with Aimee - I had it bought for me as a gift and I really enjoyed it, mostly as Aimee put me at ease right away and was lovely to chat to. I look forward to coming back again for another treatment.

Today was the first day of being able to eat on the terrace of our favourite place. We decided to go and have a little normality . When we arrived we were greeted by covid restrictions which was as you would expect . We also were greeted by the lovely friendly welcoming staff that we have so missed . Jona and Ben looked after us along with a very helpful new young lady . Together they made it a lovely lunch. I can’t recommend it enough, you will be amazed at how quiet and relaxing it really is.

The coronavirus situation has been difficult for all of us and carrying on running a business has been challenging. However, it seems to be an excuse for some to lower standards and offer inferior service. This is certainly the case at the Hotel du Vin, Exeter. Currently it is only possible to eat outside or in your hotel room. The menu at the moment is very limited. Four hot dishes are offered, including one vegan, there are toasted sandwiches and desserts. The hot meals were really dreadful. Probably boil in the bag type dishes, frozen fries etc. There is no excuse for this. I hope the management takes note and improves the catering. The rooms are now quite spartan and the floor in the bathroom still had hair on. Therefore their "deep cleaning" policy during COVID is meaningless.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. As with any other similar business we are not allowed to offer anywhere else to eat, due to the current government restrictions our guests may have room service and from Monday 12th April, to enjoy the outside area of the terrace and garden. I can only apologise that you did not enjoy the food and am hoping that you brought this to the attention of the team at the time, so recompense could have been made. The menu has been more restricted in line with business, the limitations of room service and also the safety of our staff. Now that we can use the outside area we have from Thursday introduced a terrace menu, which is more extensive. The food is purchased and prepared as we have always done, completely in line with Hotel du Vin standards but I will pass your comments on. The rooms are still subject to covid restrictions and therefore cushions, throws etc have all had to have been removed and appreciate it does give a spartan feel, but ultimately this is for our guests safety. I sincerely apologise about the hair, assuring you this does not mean our cleaning policy is meaningless and can confirm that the housekeeping staff have been working diligently this whole time and will be most sorry about this incident.

Had to stay here for work for 3 days and it seemed like the perfect location. Everything was great and I was thinking I would rebook the hotel for the remainder of my project work in Exeter. That was until we were spoken to in the most disgusting way by one of the reception team. The maid was in our room and we headed back downstairs to find somewhere to wait only to be shouted at by a woman with dark hair at reception. When I explained the situation she was still so aggressive and nasty I actually thought she was going to make us wait outside. She then told us we could wait on the chez long. Thankfully the other lovely receptionist Izzy was there and came over to us when our room was ready. We couldn’t wait to get upto our room. We were shocked that somebody could be so nasty and aggressive. I completely understand the covid rules but the maid was literally in our room and we needed somewhere to sit until she was finished. So disappointing and completely ruined the stay as we felt so uncomfortable afterwards. Saying that everyone else we encountered was so nice and lovely to us and made us feel at home. Such a pity.

Hello, I am so sorry and shocked to read your feedback. I sincerely apologise that any one of our team could have made you feel this way, it is completely out of character and I am ascertaining who it was in order to present your feedback to them and to understand what their issue was, and for them to appreciate the effect of their behaviour. I would be most grateful, if based on the other team members, the definite action that will be taken and the fact that prior to the incident, all was well, that you would reconsider your position and give us another try. I am more than happy for you to contact me directly to discuss further. Your feedback is much appreciated.

We had to make an urgent visit to Devon during lockdown. It was hard to find a decent hotel that was open and providing some service, but Hotel du Vin came up and did very well in the circumstances. We booked a deluxe room which was, frankly, small - I don’t know what a standard room would have been like. But it was very clean. The service at front desk was excellent as was the room service with tasty food. I would come back again in normal circumstances

Thank you very much for posting a review and so glad that we were able to look after you. Due to the hotel originally being an eye hospital, we offer a selection of bedrooms styles and categories that were able to fit in with the buildings structure and appreciate that these do not necessarily compare to other more typical HDV properties but all standard rooms offer king size beds. Look forward to welcoming you back soon. Many thanks
