Saturday night dinner for a group of 7. Table booked for 8.15pm. 20 mins to order 2 bottles of Champagne, another 10 minutes for it to arrive. First course arrived at 9.30pm. We were offered bread and olives whilst we waited. Main courses: 4 out of 7 were served stone cold and needed to be sent back. Just nowhere near...

Have been coming here for a few years, sometimes staying, sometimes just for a meal. Had heard that things were not as good after Hotel du vin takeover and sadly that seems to be true. Good news is dogs still allowed and you can eat in bar lounge with them. Bad news is that food was served cold on stone...

I stayed here for a weekend during a conference at U of Exeter. The check in area is somewhat unassuming and my room itself was quite small. But, I was travelling alone and didn't need anything more than the room I was given. The hotel has had some refurbishment and is up to date and uses modern fittings. It is...

Just went in for a drink. Staff were ok. Not as attentive as previously. Low key. Quiet atmosphere. Just rather disappointing that no upgrade has been made to decor. I won't make too many assumptions until I eat and stay. Just a little underwhelmed.

We booked for Sunday lunch. 4 courses at a very reasonable price. The service was excellent and the food was really good. So not sure why the restaurant was so quiet. They deserve alot more business. The only area I felt let them down was nothing to do with the restaurant. We went for a walk around the gardens outside...

I have stayed at this hotel a few times, the last being in February 2016 for 1 night. This hotel was then known as the Magdalen Chapter Hotel at the time. The staff are very pleasant and make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are modern and a good size. The food is fantastic and the hotel has excellent spa facilities....

This is a fine old building, which means hoteliers have a problem when adapting from old hospital use. The hotel is functionary and utilitarian rather than luxurious to sample. We liked the fact that the room had a separate dunny and a Nespresso machine and the bed was very comfy after a long drive, but the experience was spartan. Room...

These rooms may look contemporary, but this style of dark wood and starkness is starting to look dated. Especially when the rooms are too small for real people with luggage. Bathroom just ended up soaking wet, TV placed to low to watch in bed. Table and chair at desk pointless as not usable. This hotel can only have been remodelled...

I've been going to Hotels du Vin since their first establishement in Winchester and have visited many others. This is not up to their usual standard, indeed, the four star listing is suspect; I don't know any hotel with such small standard rooms could come under this rating. The rooms (and there was more than one in our family group)...

What was The Magdalen Chapter is now Hotel du Vin, so we were told that they're in the process of transformation.
