10 of us booked in to have Christmas Day lunch at 3.00 pm. We had paid £85 per head, although it was advertised on the website at £79.95 .In May. A couple of weeks later we paid our £20 per head deposit and was told by the receptionist ,who went to check that the price and menu was correct as per advert. As money was paid I believe this is a binding contract and should have been honoured.. On Christmas Day we arrived just before 3 pm. We were not shown to our table but found it ourselves. There were some very soggy canapés on the table .Although when the starters arrived there was not enough cutlery for everyone, a short wait whilst more soup spoons arrived. The bread rolls arrived- very hard and not enough side plates were available, another short wait whilst this was remedied. The main course came although some of the starter dishes and cutlery remained, some were still there when we left after 5pm. The dessert course arrive but again two were missing, again another wait till they came. Coffee and mince pies were also short, wait again and sugar was obtained from a vacated table. All in all the service was terrible and the experience was one of complete dissatisfaction. Three times we asked for more drinks and eventually they were delivered …
Came to the hotel for Sunday lunch. We picked roast dinner and we all agreed it was one of the nicest ones we have recently eaten. Plenty of vegetables, roast potatoes and meat all good, homemade Yorkshire puddings and lovely gravy. We finished off with Christmas pudding and a chocolate fondant. Extremely good value and staff were all attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back and would recommend for a nice relaxing, reasonable, Sunday lunch 😊
Stayed in the Osborne room for one night paid £180.00. Very nice room great sea view but the bed was very hard. Did not get any sleep. Worst bed we have ever slept in before in a hotel of this quality. Swimming pool was nice and warm but the changing rooms were dreadful like an after thought. The showers in there, if you were lucky you may get some warm water out. Depending on the time of day. We showered after swimming in cold water. The showers in the changing rooms are what you would expect of a 2 star hotel. When we went swimming there were no towels there. So we had to drip dry when we mentioned this to reception they said you had to get the towels from them before swimming. That is fine but that should be made clear to guests when checking in. The breakfast was nice but when we asked the staff in the restaurant for anything they kept on forgetting. It is more like a 3 star hotel and very run down. We will not return.…
Large room (Beauclerk) with large bathroom and v good shower. Food very nice evening meal and good breakfast. Overlooks sea but set a little back. Direct access to SWCP. Sadly didn’t offer a laundry service which would have been useful after 4 days walking.
We were a little apprehensive as we had read some average reviews but we were certainly not disapponted. A charming receptionist welcomed us and the waiter who covered the bar and resturant looked after us to a very high standard. The dinner in choice ,presentation and quality was outstanding and certainly merited a 5 star score. And the visit to the jewellery cabinet on our departure certainly made the experience very good for my wife. Thank you Osborne hotel for such a great evening.
Stayed in the apartments and only used the Hotel for evening drinks. Good selection, reasonably priced (for a Hotel). The indoor bar area is adequate but small so head there on a lovely dry evening where the outdoor terrace can be enjoyed with spectacular views of the bay. Amazing !!
Noticed up everywhere that you can only offload luggage for 20 minutes- there was no parking available so we waited for a spot to become vacant then parked for only a few minutes to quickly off load our small luggage. Arrived back home and already had a fine in the post! Don’t visit this hotel they will steal your money.
Had our wedding breakfast and reception with overnight stay at the hotel greeted with drinks on arrival. Friendly and helpful staff and wedding coordinator Sarah Bell done an amazing job from start to finish the decorations were gorgeous the meal was delicious the staff done an amazing job the food and beverage manager Mike attended catering for the 70+ guests. The wedding suite was immaculate with spectacular views thanks to all the staff including the dj Andy who made our day so perfect
Due to rail strike we needed to book 2 rooms for a night . Our first choice was the Osborne Hotel because we stay in the apartments every year. Friendly and informative booking in process at reception. We booked a twin and a single room at a good price . The twin room was spacious and nicely presented with modern bathroom and hot shower. The single room had a double bed with modern shower room. Seeing is believing ~ see my photos.
The only thing going for this hotel is it’s sea view. Really unsure how they can advertise as 4 star. It’s run down, dated and absolutely stinking. You can see the only clean in between guests is a bed change. We raised our concerns whilst there and they admitted staffing issues and lack of support/acknowledge of complaints from the management above. Felt really sorry for the deputy manager Ethan and the reception staff. They all looked a bit spirit broken! Having to deal with all the complaints (we witnessed several complaints whilst there) with no support. Either they have no money to invest or they are choosing not to - sadly it’s a sinking ship and we won’t be returning. Heavily stained carpets (looked like blood in some areas) bathroom not cleaned, dangerous bathroom cleaning products left out, kettle stinking with milk all over it - just a few concerns which you wouldn’t even be okay with in a 2 star……
