Had an excellent 3 night stay fantastic location rooms were clean and tidy plenty of parking and a wonderful host nothing was too much trouble and very knowledgeable of the area and things to do. Great buffet breakfast to start the day and a short walk from the centre of torquay. Would definitely book here again.
Not sure where to begin with this review, I hate writing bad reviews but feel I have too so others don't get ripped off . First off I would like to say the manager who greeted us was very friendly. After that it goes down hill some what . We were allegedly given an upgraded room , well if this was the upgraded room how bad were the normal rooms ? At best it looked like a youth hostel or student accommodation, decor from the 70s with tatty old pine furniture. We actually threw better furniture away recently. Bedding was clean but just a regular double bed that felt like sleeping on a trampoline. Round the edges of the room it was dirty . TV didn't work . Bathroom slightly more modern but grotty , mold on tiles and grim around skirting boards. Initially my other half wanted to leave . But we were meeting a friend we hadn't seen for 4 years and decided to stick it out. To be fair it was pretty quiet during the night despite its location. Breakfast was served buffet style and we arrived at 8.30 to be greeted with half a slice of fried bread, mushroom and beans .No eggs bacon or sausages . Maybe more were on the way but we walked out and promptly left the hotel and found breakfast elsewhere. You could be forgiven for thinking the hotel was cheap and had that been the case we could have seen past the tatty outdated rooms . But for this unforgettable experience we paid £117 , yes you read it correctly £117 . This day and age the offering is simply not acceptable and definitely not at that price point . Safe to say we won't be returning. …
We had an overnight stay at the hotel as we was visiting family in the area. My mother had the ground floor with her two little dogs and the room was large and clean. We was upgraded to a see view but the room was a little dated. I do think they are trying to update the rooms and wish them the very best as it’s situated close to the beach and town. The manager is lovely and TBH the only person we have seen working and he really does work hard. Hats off to him.
Stayed one night, the manager was very helpful as we arrived very early but he had the room ready for us all, full English breakfast was very good plus we were able to leave our car in the hotel car park after we checked out while we had a couple more hours in Torquay before going home, would stay again.
Nice and clean room. Friendly and warm welcome. Great breakfast and excellent service. Only short walk to town, extra parking around a corner if needed and lovely bakery across street...what more could you wish for? Will go back again.
Room freezing radiator not working correctly. Mould in the bedroom. Mould in the bathroom. Toilet seat broken. Carpets not cleaned in bedroom. Rust under towel rail in bathroom. One light in bedroom not working. Nothing to dry hands on in the ladies toilet in the main building. Holes in upholstery on chairs in main Lounge. Hotel cold throughout and in needs of a great deal of TLC. Only positive breakfast very nice
I visited this hotel for New Year celebrations and was very disappointed. The hotel did nothing for New Year except provide s few sandwiches and cakes at just gone midnight. One of the ladies that had organised a trip provided us with party poppers. The only good thing about the evening was the efforts put in by the singer who had most of us up on the dance floor. The dining room and lounges were very cold with no visible radiator in the lounge. The bedrooms left a lot to be desired. The heater in my bathroom wasn’t working and the lid of the toilet was propped up by the side of the toilet. The shower cubicle was very mouldy and the shower mat was disgusting. The carpet was dirty and the bed looked as if it hadn’t been made for the whole of our stay. The Manager Henry was very rude when I asked him if there was entertainment on New Year’s Eve and didn’t let me finish asking if it was on until midnight as it had finished at 10.30 the previous night. He spent most of his time leaning on the bar using his phone. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful.…
Upon booking I was told that Christmas lunches would be available and to arrange it on arrival on 23rd December. When we arrived we were told that lunches and evening meals were not available. I turned out to be too late to get one anywhere else. We ended up leaving on Christmas Day to return home. The whole hotel was freezing cold including the rooms. we were given a cranky portable heater with one of its two legs missing. Because the dining room was so cold breakfasts became stone cold before we began to eat them. Our shower leaked leaving the bathroom floor soaking wet. The manager/owner was unsympathetic and unapologetic.
I. Arrived and the whole place was in Darkness, even though they had confirmed half board would be available. I was advised no food would be available 23rd 24th 25th and 26th evening. The bar area and lounge was all in darkness. I was directed to a nearby restaurant for food. I then had to go on line to find another hotel for Xmas. I left Xmas Eve morning. I found I was not entitled to any refund.
I am sure this hotel was great in its time, but unfortunately the reception area was dark and not very welcoming. The room was dirty and tatty with a cold bathroom . staff was helpful and friendly but they need the owners to invest in what cold be a great hotel once more.
