Stayed for 5 nights, our first room the toilet area was so small so they moved us without any fuss. Room was spacious as was the ensuite. Very clean. Very old school but loved it. ALL the staff were so friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding on EVERY meal and the choice was more than enough. Would definitely come back again to stay and see everyone again! Thank you Tim (owner) for a wonderful stay. Thank you to all the staff who worked so incredibly hard. Rach & Brad
I stayed on Saturday night in January. Firstly, the breakfast was excellent, with a sea view table watching the sun rise over the horizon. Lovely. BUT. There can only have been a handful of people staying and I was going it in a pokey small room. That I can deal with. But the en suite had the most enormous single glazed window, with an old plastic vent in it with the ‘close’ missing, so effectively holes in the window. The tiny towel rail wasn’t working so no heat. The shower dribbled Luke warm water. The taps only had Luke warm water. It was freezing in there. The TV was small and old with very poor reception and very limited channels. The door to the room was weak because it looked like it had been partially kicked in at the lock. And there was no instructions given to me for wifi. I’m sure many older hotels have rooms like this, and I like to try and support independent hotels. But off season when hardly anyone is staying - surely they could have given me a better room that with a bathroom that wasn’t feeezing cold (in summer time it wouldn’t be a problem)? Very disappointed!!!…
Lovely stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great room with sea view. Very comfortable bed. Staff in formal dress reminded me of a Miss Marple story but atmosphere very relaxed and chairs in bar just right for us. Many thanks .
I got a superb bed and breakfast deal by calling the hotel. The breakfast was magnificent and also served at the table. I am disabled and the staff asked how they could help me and served me in style. The other meals I had were also extremely good. My room was warm even during the frost and kept beautifully clean. It was one of the best rooms I’ve had in years in Torquay. I found it very convenient and the view of the sunrise across the frosty Bay one morning breakfast was amazing. I would definitely return.
We booked this hotel for our group of 20 for our Christmas lunch do, I can say in all honesty it’s the best one ever, the price was very reasonable, the food was cooked to perfection and plenty of it, the service was absolutely perfect, the staff so friendly and attentive, they made our Christmas one to remember, we have all agreed we’re having the same again next year.
4 night stay...with a group of 8...the hotel prides itself on its classic elegance...and rightly so...a step back in time and it was lovely being treated as special...I loved the ambience. Bit like being a guest in Downton Abbey. And the food was stupendous...in my working life I regularly ate at top rated restaurants around the world...this easily matched them...fish straight from the sea caught that day, lovely presentation, terrific veggie offer every evening.
A delightful time warp. An elegant venue in a lovely bay view location. Bus stop outside. Greeted by the lovely bar ladies Clare and Audrey on our first visit for an evening of excellent jazz, the Karen Sharp quintet. Pre booked a table for dinner in the bar for unpretentious pub grub. Who needs white tablecloths and obsequious waiters? A very good Caesar salad which I was delighted to see included anchovies as a Caesar should but often left off. Excellent ingredients but a tad on the small side. Cosy sofas and chairs in the communal lounge area. Cannot speak for the accommodation but from our limited experience would happily use if we weren't locals. 🇬🇧🇳🇿
We got married in the Livermead House hotel 10 years ago! The day was faultless and beautiful due to the amazing work Tim and his team did! 10 years later we are still married and for our anniversary decided to return for a stay and dinner! Yet again Tim and his team went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! We love the hotel and the classic decor! Feels like you are stepping back in time and there is something extremely charming about that! Room was perfect, clean and a dream view! Thank you again Tim and your team for making our stay special.
I was utterly appalled by how I was treated by Jess (receptionist). She was rude to me and totally unhelpful. She slammed her highlighter at me and was told that they cannot accommodate my needs. I was not told what the check-in times were and was blamed for being in early. I won't be coming back to this hotel. It was old fashioned and only selling point was it's in the seafront; otherwise nothing special here! Avoid this hotel at all cost. You might as well sleep outside, you might get a better treatment.
We stayed here for a ‘cheap’ nights stay no frills whilst walking the South West Coast Path. The room was clean but very dated, very pink and frilly!!!! The hotel reminded me of faulty towers all male staff wearing tuxedos. And lots of pelmets, frilled lampshades and velvet. Not to my taste, but it was busy so must be a market for it still!! But can’t complain we slept well!
