The Hotel Balmoral - set in a the most exclusive and picturesque location of Meadfoot in Torquay, only two minutes walk (150 meters) takes you to the blue flag awarded meadfoot beach overlooking the best coastal scenery on the English Riviera. Return back to elegantly furnished and decorated public rooms giving the hotel a restful, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere with a touch of class, which is matched by the unpretentious warm hospitality provided. Dining in the restaurant really is an occasion not to be missed! superb fine dining in the evening with Italian, French and English inspired dishes, the menu changes daily using only the freshest produce while being reasonably priced. Menu is individually priced or Sunday lunch off peak from £19.95 per person for a three course lunch. Weather dependant our terrace is also open for breakfast and dining with sea views. Enjoy an aperitif from our classically styled licensed bar, or Devon cream tea with freshly baked warm scones and dollops of real devon clotted cream in the secluded landscaped garden. Take in the superb view out to sea with thatcher rock in the distance. Each room is varied in style, location & facilities some large with super-king beds & part sea views, some compact doubles over the side and back. Live music is provided out of season at the weekends, as well as free parking, space is limited but there is parking right outside with no permit restrictions. Or for the scenic route, the hotel sits right on the coastal walking path to take in the stunning views while you make your way across the cliffs to the town harbour.

We really enjoyed our stay over Christmas. The food was excellent, and staff went the extra mile to cater for my gluten free diet. The hotel was warm and clean and all staff friendly and efficient. So much so we have booked for next year. The hotel also ideal for Summer breaks as within 5 mins walk of Meadfoot Bay.

Hotel's Favourite
We spent five nights at this hotel and enjoyed it very much. We had room 7 overlooking the gardens. The room was advertised as partial sea view and it was partial. The room was also advertised as a cosy double and it was but comfortable with a very small bathroom you could hardly turn round it The evening meals were the best we have had at a hotel in this country with a good variation. The waiting staff were exceptional and you never had to wait long for the next course. On the odd nice day we took advantage of the lovely garden and spread out on the loungers for a couple of hours. The walk into the centre is a good 15 mins and is both uphill and downhill. The walk to the sea is 2-3 mins and the little beach cafe is worth a visit just for the view.

We arrived early but it was not a problem We could wait in comfort in the bar and have a drink and relax after our journey It was the first time we had been away for christmas and it was so much fun The staff were so nice and helpful For me personally the amount of food was a bit daunting but how could you critisize such excellant cuisine-well done to the chefs The evening they brought out the baked Alaska will be imprinted on my memory forever-it was amazing ! Thankyou Balmoral Hotel for a truly memorable experience

Nothing too much trouble. Brilliant staff fabulous food. New Year's Eve memorable with lots of unexpected extras. Third visit this year and already booked two breaks for 2023. Beautifully located just a short walk to the beach and bus stop outside to get to the town centre.

We have been to the Balmoral many times and it never fails to impress. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We shall be visiting this hotel again for next Christmas, as we have done for very many years. Drinks were reasonably priced. The food was superb as always. The hotel is within walking distance from the centre of Torquay and there is a very good bus service to Newton Abbot, Brixham and other places. There is a nice garden where one can have drinks (weather permitting). We really enjoy our stays at the Hotel Balmoral.

This was our second Christmas at the Balmoral and third stay in all. We simply love the fine dining, the excellent friendly service from all the staff and the enviable location a few minute's walk to Meadfoot beach and with a bus stop right outside. Over Christmas we also enjoyed excellent entertainment but it is the food that we will remember most!

Once again our Christmas visit to The Balmoral did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived and was welcomed with the lovely cream tea, we felt at home. Yet again the food was superb (and plenty of it). We requested our favourite room and were really delighted that we were given it. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. The entertainment was not entirely to our taste but we cannot deny that we found it quite enjoyable and did make it feel more Christmassy. We will be back again next year.

Balmoral is the most welcoming family run hotel. I cannot fault the staff, hospitality, food, accommodation and warming welcome on arrival. The staff no matter what position they hold are eager to help and do it with a smile. The dining room is decorated in subtle colors and tables immaculate attended with real tablecloths and napkins. The personal touches not to mention the excellent meals make the dining more enjoyable.
