We went on a coach trip for 5 days and it was definitely value for money as we travelled from sunderland to torquay the following coach journey was very relaxing with 2 breaks for refreshments the hotels food was very good and we got 4 alcoholic drinks per person per night the entertainment was good but the best part of our stay was Rob the bar manager he kept us fully entertained with his quizzes the rooms were basic but clean all in all a nice break
I visited this hotel with my elderly mother, who cannot manage full flights of stairs, so was very disappointed, that the lifts were not working, even though I contacted the hotel, prior to our arrival to confirm a few details, one being the lift. On checking in our allocated room, was top floor, With no lift available, thankfully we were given a room on the ground floor, which was okay apart from a little noisey from other residents passing and you could here the entertainment, also the room's bathroom could have been much cleaner, the carpet didn't seem to have been vacuumed, housekeeping could have been better, perhaps a check list, a bit more training as they all seemed new. On the upside, the room was a good size, and comfortable beds. Entertainment ,was provided, on 3 nights of our stay, 2 of the acts were very enjoyable, and the quiz with Robin, Bar manager was also fun too. The food and restaurant staff were very good, buffet breakfast was plentiful. Evening meals, were 3 courses, my only negative, was sweetcorn was served every day. Jack was very attentive and seemed experienced in his position, The girls in the restaurant were also very friendly and helpful. Reception staff were very helpful, and would pass any issues on to the relevant members of staff. Photos are of the bathroom, where the door, and toilet base, could have been cleaned better. Even though I had a few issues, I would still recommend and stay here again.…
We stayed at this hotel whilst on a coach trip for 5 days. The hotel is situated in a small dip in the road , which would make it very difficult for guests with walking difficulties or in a wheelchair, as you have to walk up hill to get to the main road. On arrival the reception check in was very quick and staff directed you to your room, which was very helpful as the Layout is a bit confusing at first. Our room was ok, a bit small but quite adequate for the two of us. Shower was also quite small but ok with easy to use instructions and plenty of hot water. The meals where very good , especially the breakfast which was self service, food well cooked and served hot which made a pleasant change from some of the other hotels I have stayed in. Evening meal was a three course meal, again well cooked and hot and very tasty,so big complements to the chef’s. The walk to the town centre is mostly down hill which would take you about 30 to 45 minutes depending on how well you can walk. Lots to do and see in the town. To get back to the hotel, there is a number 12 bus that takes you to the bus stop directly outside the hotel. We just asked the driver to stop at the hotel which he did, very friendly bus staff. I would like to thank Martina and Jack the two young people who looked after everyone of the guests every day, always with a smile and always very helpful towards everyone, they worked extremely well together and made our stay at the hotel special, and we hope to see them both very soon. The only reason I gave the hotel a 4 and not a 5 star rating, was because of the cleaners. Our room was missed and not cleaned on two days, our door left open on one day, the soap and shower gel was not replenished, the shower walls and base was not cleaned, and the beds where just covered with the quilts haphazardly. So not really good work on behalf of the cleaners. But besides this, we had a great time and will definitely be back again very soon.…
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rob (the Bar Manager) was excellent. Great quiz master. Good entertainment was provided. The food was very good indeed, Our room was small but clean and had all you would need for a pleasant stay. The bed was very comfy. Bathroom was small(extra space for storing things needed) but clean and tidy.
Stayed at the Tor park Hotel as part of a Caledonia travel package for 5 days.Staff are great very warm and friendly and have a great rapport with guests which is great to see.Upon our visit the room was unsuitable for me as the lift was out of order the manager changed the room without a quibble. The room was clean and functional. The double bed was very comfy With a lamp and bedside unit either side which was useful.A small functional bathroom with great water flow and got hot water if required, our room had a small shower enclosure with a mixer bar shower which worked well along with a heated towel rail too.A desk fan a hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities too in room. The room also had a small but useable led TV with good Freeview reception if required.Breakfast was served at 8am and a good selection of food was available ie cereals fresh fruit toast or a good English brekkie with tea and coffee served by waiters/waitress's the food was buffet style help yourself which is ideal. The hotel is located right near bus stops which is ideal I'm only talking 50 yards if that to the bus stop. The reception did have snacks etc for sale too if required.Evening meal was served at 6pm and it was a 3 course couldn't fault the food with prompt service.I would definitely stay here again so would my other half.…
Brought my son here last weekend food was brilliant, about a mile from beach, had an issue with the gas through the night but hot water was back on Sunday morning so wasn't even really an issue the manager Rob was brilliant with my lad and the night receptionist as they sell cookies and muffins so my lad was there a lot Kayleigh and Jack were great in the restaurant and Ollie on the bar, will be going again next year xx
Location too far from main holiday area had to get taxis. Food quite basic. Staff were helpful. Lift didn't work apparently hasn't worked for a while but staff will take cases to your room for you. Rooms are quite spacious only the room we had was above the kitchen even with the windows open it was too hot,
This was our first break booked with ukbreakaways, our first visit to Torquay and our first stay at the hotel. We're told we stayed on a quiet week. The super helpful and friendly staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived after a long drive. The lift was out of order but a lovely young lady carried our bags upstairs and showed us to our spacious twin room. The room itself was nicely decorated enough for us with clean bedding and comfortable beds. The hotel trued to accommodate our needs with a shower chair but unfortunately it wouldn't fit inside the shower. We appreciate the fact they tried. The room was very warm (outside temp 14 °C inside the room 24) so I stripped the duvet as soon as I got in and slept on top of the bed for the 3 nights we stayed. Next time I'll take a fan just in case it's needed. There was a TV in the room with a number of the freeview channels. It was interesting sometimes to watch a program as the signal was weak (probably due to the broken aerial cable) and when either of us moved we lost signal. We had some fun with it but if you like to watch TV when you're away, you may find it frustrating. It is very hilly in the area so a signal booster would probably be a good idea. WiFi is available in the communal areas. My.mobile signal was 1 bar in the room, but as I say, its hilly and the hotel is surrounded by other hotels and lodges so in a built up area so it's hardly surprising. If it bothers you, again, a portable 4g/5g signal booster might be a useful bit of kit to pack. There was entertainment on one of the nights we stayed. Pretty good he was too. It was a bit loud for us so we admired his talents and tapped our feet while enjoying a drink from the bar from the lounge area just outside of the entertainment room. Food was delicious and hot. Breakfast is buffet style self serve and had a nice choice: Cooked (bacon, eggs; scrambled & fried, sausages, hash browns, beans, tomatoes), toast or croissants with conserves, or cold fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, fruit juices. Tea or coffee served at the table by friendly wait staff. Dinner was 3 courses with 4 choices at each course. The did also have an allergens menu catering for those who need it. Breakfast is served 8am - 10am, dinner 6pm - 8pm. We had one evening whenever we got stuck in traffic qnd didn't get to the dining room till 7.30pm, staff still waited on us as if we had turned up at 6pm. Out of courtesy to them we didn't dally and made sure to leave by 8 but they didnt pressure us to. Our break was 4 nights August 19 -22 2020. With dinner, bed and breakfast, twin room and was £139 each. As far as we're concerned we got value for money and are glad we picked this hotel. We've stayed in branded hotels which cost a lot more, had shabbier rooms, grumpy staff and worse food. That's why we are already planning a return visit soon.…
Second time at this hotel.Still a lovely hotel . Definitely will be going again! Great staff !! Nicki who works in the restaurant and bar Thursday night is such a lovely, helpful lady. Josh the chef is also a very lovely young man and also a very helpful person. The food is lovely and great menu choices every night. Breakfast also good. Mattresses and pillows so comfortable. 😃
The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful. The food served in the restaurant area was also really nice and good selection to pick from. It was a great hotel to stay in and would stay here again.
