Ran by people who do not speak English. Prostitutes seen hanging about the hotel, suspicion is the manager who was hard to find No facilities available. Not a hotel. Owners give no refunds at all while providing no service (bad cleaning included), they are stealing money by false advertisement and investing this money in more hotels that do the same thing. Disgraceful.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I stayed at the Crofton for a week in August and had a simply brilliant time. The service was exemplary from start to finish with exceptional COVID measures which we both found extremely reassuring. The staff here work so hard and nothing is ever too much trouble (even lending my husband a pen to write his anniversary card!) which then led to two glasses of fizz being offered complementary on our anniversary. These personal touches show that Furdoon and Stuart really pay attention to their guests. Fabulous indoor pool and hot tub made us feel extra spoilt! Highly recommend the breakfasts - especially the fruit salad! - all cooked to order with a gorgeous view over the bay! We must also mention the bed in the Belgrave Suite - it was arguably the most comfortable we have ever slept in… and HUGE!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We would love to return.

Responded 16 Aug 2021
Hi Folks. Many thanks for taking time out to provide a review, and 5* rating, of your recent stay with us at Crofton House Hotel. We are so pleased you had such a brilliant time while at Crofton House, enjoying the leisure facilities and the 'cooked to order' breakfasts, not to mention those fresh fruit salads!. Thanks for your appreciation of the attentive staff team who are more than willing to go that little bit further to make sure our guests have a great stay. Pleased you enjoyed the comfort of the Belgrave Suite with its comfy 6ft super-king bed! It is always good to read how guests enjoy their stay, and in these Covid times, feel reassured and relaxed. At the end of the day we are so glad you had such a wonderful anniversary and cheers to may more! Maybe see you next year to cheers you in celebrating another happy year of marriage. Kind regards. Furdoon and Stuart.

Awful!!! Got there & tried to check at 4oclock & poor guy on reception did not speak English! Between us we both tried but failed! We sat in the lounge when a random women appeared bear footed & sat & watched us. Eventually the manger appeared apologised & showed us around, all seemed ok. He handed us the key to our room. Ok the room wasn’t that big bug for two of us it was ok. When we entered the room the window was wide open & the room was cold. Closing the window (that did not lock closed) we checked the radiator which was cold 🥶 I noticed a heater in the bathroom which we turned on hoping it would take the chill off the room for the time being. At about 6 the radiator started to slowly warm up. After a lovely evening out in Torquay we settled into our room & watched tv. We heard some noise outside our room & then suddenly the manger walked it our room!!!!!!! He said he thought it was empty!! Bearing in mind he was the one that showed us around & brought us to our room 🤬 after a confrontation with my husband he went only to return again to make us confirm our booking. Let’s just say I could not sleep after that!

The hotel overall was quiet, no children and relaxed. Very much at your own pace. The pool only had 2 other guest in and the hot tub was warm. The room and bed was clean and there was plenty of toiletries. We booked into a suite with a garden view, this was in reality a large room which looked onto the flat roof of the pool and what I can assume was the pool room. There was a sea peep but if i'd paid more I would have not very annoyed as the misleading room name

Had to wait about 10 mins for someone to turn up to check us in. They arrived in trainers and joggers. Showed us around and told us we could use the terrace to have a fag! Dirty Ash trays full of water on all the tables. A guest was sitting outside drinking cans of beer from a plastic bag - not what I was expecting. Room had not been hoovered and as I looked closer the skirting boards where filthy - especially in the bathroom. We decided that we would stay but wished we had not as the noise from the other guest, who looked like they should have been staying at a YMCA, was enough to keep us up. As we could hear their inappropriate language, we did not want to complain as we felt a little intimidated. We left in the morning and gave our reasons to the 2 young men dressed in joggers at the reception who just looked at us. They were of no help. Later in the day a member of staff phoned me to ask what the problem was. He seemed to disagree about the rooms cleanliness and told me I should of complained sooner. My response was that I expected a clean room and guest that had appropriate manners. I have never left a bad review before but I wished I looked at others negative reviews and believed them.

Absolutely disgraceful, opera music blasting out all afternoon out on the patio, the cleaner/ Manuel was having a cigarette by the side of the pool while putting a barbecue on for himself, breakfast was continental but on a first come first serve basis got there at 9.30 (it was 9-10) nothing left just some bread to do toast woursther stay at faulty tower's, tried to move the stay back a day was told it was full but we could add an extra day and lose the last night with no refund, will never ever stay here again

Decent hotel located extremely close to the beach, perhaps 5 minutes from the beach. Decent rooms, a lot of space and storage with great access to Sauna’s, Steamer and pools. It’s a shame people don’t use this more, having said that it was toward the end of the season and not a great weekend for weather. A few maintenance issues, and the hotel definitely does need some TLC but from the looks of things, they’re expanding into a building next door! Reception was difficult to get hold of, but a contact number for Beka and Monica were available. Beka was great, happy to help with everything, and Monica gave us a quick tour of the hotel when we arrived. Breakfast was a miss for us, Continental was only a few prepacked pastries, Corn Flakes/Alpin, Bread and toaster and fruit with Lotus biscuits. I wouldn’t class it as continental and definitely lacked effort, and it’s a shame seeing as we paid more for a bigger room and still got that sort of breakfast. TVs had basical channels, music in the lobby was too loud at night (could hear this in our room). With reception not being 24 hours in the office, we had the unlucky experience of having extremely inconsiderate guests who decided it was a great idea to sit on the balcony outside our window drink and speaking loudly at 3am, going to their room allowing their door to slam. As it was our last night we didn’t want to kick up a fuss, but again this isn’t a hotel issue, more so the guests and staff not being aware of what’s happening on site whilst they’re away from the office.

We loved it, left alone, peaceful, veiws, pools and lovely hosts. It does depend on what you are looking for, but for us it was brilliant. We had their superior suite which was lovely. Not far from the beach or town so its a great location. We recommend this place.
