My wife Jean has COPD and also suffers with chronic back pain, the staff at the day centre of the Countess of Brecknocks' hospice recommended the Grove. A group from the hospice stayed for different days during the week and one of the patients came down for a few hours on the Thursday. We stayed for 3 nights and what...

Have just returned from another break at The Grove with my friends Laurie and Janet. All staff are so welcoming it's just like staying with your extended family. The rooms and food are super as are the outings which are organised Monday to Thursday free of charge. We had entertainment on three evenings which went down well to a small...

Thirteen family members including a grandchild stayed for a long weekend with additional family calling in. We were all made very welcomed by the staff whose attention to detail and level of service was amazing. The celebration dinner for two seventy year "young's" twins was delightful, with all the dietary requirements catered for. The cake and champagne provided by the...

Every year at this time, I look back on my visits to the Grove. Twenty four now, with the twenty fifth booked for June. If you have read reviews on this hotel in the past, by all the contributors, and suffer, or are recovering from cancer, and have not yet visited the Grove, why not? You will not find another...

We were recommended this hotel by our local Hospice and stayed for a week in March. I have cancer and my wife acts as my carer and it was important for me that she could have a break too. It is the only hotel in the country dedicated for respite care for seriously ill patients and their carers that we...

Although we have travelled extensively the progression of my husband's illness meant we'd not been away for over a year and we're going a little " stir crazy " at home. We had some reservations prior to booking e.g would a hotel catering for ill people be depressing, what would standards be like, would we have anything in common with...

My wife has a spinal tumour and is confined to an electric wheelchair, so finding a suitable hotel that can provide a large enough wet-room, accessibility and a hospital profiling bed, can prove something of a challenge. The Grove, however, made life very easy for us from the outset. On arrival, staff wouldn't let us carry any of our paraphernalia,...
