To say the hotel was basic was optimistic. On arrival we realised we'd made a mistake. For over £100 a night for a family room the only thing which was useful was the bed, and fridge. The décor was dated, and cleanliness was certainly substandard. When hotels say "classic" or "period" decor, it seems to be because they simply haven't...

We stayed two nights on a stag weekend. It was perfect for a dozen or so to crash between days / nights out etc. I didn't make breakfast either day because it was served between 08:30 and 09:30 I think. The rooms were clean and it was has everything we needed. They were very friendly and happy to put up...

After reading all the terrible reviews of this B&B I felt I just had to write my own review (my first ever) on my recent stay at the Mayfield. On arrival my friend and I were greeted by (I presume) the owner and were asked to fill in a short form. No deposit or huge, long forms as other reviewers...

I would not class this as a clean hotel, the rooms were not up to standard of cleanliness and the shower just trickled! We payed £100 per night for this hotel and we couldn't even shower! We complained and was told we couldn't have a refund for the second night so we went to find an alternative hotel with working...

Was away for a stag weekend. Basic B&B , friendly staff, rooms were clean and comfortable. Tea and Coffee in the room with a TV as well. Parking available. 5 minute walk to the bars and clubs. Like the idea it is a code to get in the rooms so no worry about losing the keys. Would def stay here...

We went for a hen do and the hen do organisers arranged accomadation. The beds were really comfy, water was hot and the rooms were quiet so we could sleep well. We were really close go the centre and could walk in 15 mins or get a taxi in 5 minutes. Would recommend for a cheap price to stay here....

I booked hotel via booking.com, and put that I would pay on arrival. Upon arrival I asked if I pay now or when we leave, and was told payment had been processed already because I did it on line. We did not get breakfast due to booking online, so this did not go well, seen as we was charged £60...

Stayed at the Mayfield 6-8 May and had a great stay. Owners very welcoming and always smiling. Rooms do need a bit of a redecoration but was clean and the en-suite in good working order. Breakfast in morning very reasonable hour slot and plenty of juice/toast with jams and tea/coffee as you like followed by a lovely hot full English...

A workmate and I were booked in here for a Friday and Saturday to attend a work exhibition. The place is clean but tired. The owners (?) / staff (?) were polite without being welcoming. We were booked bed & breakfast two en-suite rooms. My colleagues room/en-suite was fine. My en-suite however was at the other side of the hotel...
