There are lots of good things about the Grosvenor which is why its such a shame that the staff/service let it down so badly! It’s an old building in an old town. Location is great….right in the heart of Shaftsbury. Parking is in a local supermarket 2 mins walk away. The décor etc in the entrance, reception, lounge, bar, courtyard... More

Stayed for 3 nights so that we could explore a little of Dorset. Our room was lovely and spacious. We enjoyed the chilled atmosphere in the lounge, bar and restaurant. We ate there few times and the food was excellent. There were a few little hiccups but the hotel staff were apologetic and quick to rectify them so it didn't... More

Having just returned from a one night stay at the Grosvenor Arms in Shaftesbury I have to say I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. - We dined in the restaurant where the service was terrible (we also heard other guests complaining amongst themselves). Staff were disinterested, unorganised and the starters and mains were served straight after one another.... More

An excellent experience - nice rooms, perfect dinner and great breakfast.... but 4 stars to help the manager to make it absolutely perfect.... lot of dusts on top of furnitures and various items in one of the room we had (out of 2).... and one of the room nearby ours had left their meal tray outside the door at around... We enjoyed our two night stay in a superior double (room 3) but more attention to small details would have enhanced our experience. For example the bathroom lighting and extractor fan were inadequate and there was no cap provided for using the drop head shower (housekeeping provided one when asked). It's an old building with (inevitably) squeaky floorboards but our... More

My wife and I stayed at the Grosvenor Arms for two nights. This was the first time we had stayed away with our 3 month old baby daughter. The hotel could not have done anymore to make our stay more comfortable. The hotel is centrally located in Shaftsbury and is well located for a day trip to Sandbanks/Poole/Bournemouth. My personal... I cannot recommend this very tastefully decorated, centrally located hotel enough! I went there for my 60 the birthday and I could not wish for a more comfortable and lovely place! The staff is very attentive and friendly. The rooms newly decorated with impressive modern bathrooms giving you that little extra ( Neal's Yard toiletries), you should see the shower... More

This is a lovely little hotel. I can't stand rooms full of English chintz and nick nacks, and this has been modernised to an elite scale. The decor was equivalent (if not better) to some 5 star hotels we have stayed in large cities around the world. Service was wonderful. While the bars and common areas are lovely we felt... More

We revisited the Grosvenor Arms for the parentsday at the boardingschool of our daughter nearby. It felt like coming home. We like the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel and the friendly service. They made a wonderful hamper for the schoolpicnic for us,
