It took me awhile to find somewhere in the area to stay that was well-maintained, not crazy expensive and can hold a group of 6-8 of us. Mill Laine was by far the best option I could find and it was perfect for us. We stayed in the Stables & the Dairy - which could be linked to work fr...

Nice properties in a lovely rural setting. We hired all of the cottages together for a weekend away and the accommodation is of a good standard. However on the first night one of the houses smelt very strongly of gas. On telephoning the owner we were told that this was a historical problem and nothing to worry about. However a...

The lady that has written this review was not staying in the cottage affected by the gas leak and was not present during consultation between occupants and us, the owners. We were called on the Friday evening about a smell of gas in the Stables cottage and were there in person within 15 minutes. My husband could not smell gas...

As we drove up the track through a field of Southdown sheep, we realised that this is somewhere rather special. The Barn complex is situated on the hillside, comprising four discrete and private units. Last year, we stayed in the smaller Stables, which is single storey and has lovely but close views of the fields. However, in contrast, the Granary...

The farm is well located near to Lewes. The accommodation is attractive and well put together. There is just about everything you could need, even a garlic press. The reason I have only given it a score of 3 is that the concept of self catering was taken a little too far. The washing machine didn't appear to be working...

The cottage is attached to the current farmhouse; visible from the barn accommodation but reached by a separate road. This was not made clear when we booked so we were a bit confused. We were warned that the stairs are very steep and they certainly are. Upstairs is the large bathroom (with bath and walk in shower) and one very...

We stayed in the Diary. Well equiped and sufficient space. Quiet. The barn is a couple of km's from Lewes and surrounded with farmland. Neighbours are sheep, horses and cows. We used the barn as starting point for nice walks and several visits to ancient Lewes.

We had the stables cottage for a week, the property was everything you could want. An en suite double bedroom and another double bedroom and bathroom. The lounge was large and comfortable and the kitchen /dining room area was very well equipped with a range master cooker, fridge, freezer and a dishwasher. The heating was on when we arrived and...

amazing barn in beautiful scenery, absolutely spotlessly clean, lovely bedding and towels, amazing views from the living area, lots of comfy sofas in the lounge and very spacious. Closest small town is Lewes which is a lovely and very quaint. After years of saying in many different cottages for February holidays with friends, this was our favourite accommodation, it was...

The self catering short break over Christmas with elderly parents was ideal. The owner was very prompt and helpful in dealing with queries over email (despite running a busy working farm). And even went to the extent of delivering items from their farm shop due to it closing before we arrived. The large living/dining/kitchen area made for a social space...

This was a late booking as my original booking for a cottage through English Country Cottages was cancelled by the owner at short notice. The Granary is in a beautiful location, with wonderful views, but it is easily accessible by public transport - trains to Brighton are very regular from Lewes, and the 166 bus stops outside the Blacksmiths Arms...
