I booked The Mermaid Inn for a special occasion and am very pleased I did. Absolutely steeped in history and the room we had with a four poster bed was fabulous. The food in the restaurant was first class and breakfast the next morning offered a good choice. But what really made the stay so special was the warm welcome...

Thank you for your review. We will share your fulsome praise with all the staff concerned. It is a recurrent theme of reviews to praise the staff, of whom we are justly proud. The Mermaid was rebuilt in 1420, and the present owners since 1993, have continued the long tradition of owners, to ensure her historic charms are maintained. It...

Authentic old world charm, not Disney made up, including very helpful staff with character too, so good too see happy staff who were obviously proud of the hotel and wanted to help all their guests without any corporate speak. Rooms were fine, but you have to remember this is a very old building so mind your head and be ready...

Thank you for your review. We will share your praise with all the staff. It is always so rewarding to receive such an affirmation for the service provided by the staff, and for the loving stewardship of the independent owners, who have curated the Grade II Listed Mermaid since 1993. We hope we can welcome you again to The Mermaid...

My husband, two sisters and daughter have just returned from a wonderful overnight stay in the Nutcracker Suite at the Mermaid Inn, What a truly unforgettable experience. Having read many reviews before I booked, the only concern that I had was the fact that the walls dividing bedrooms were thin & everything could be heard. That turned out to be the case but, since we didn't have anything to be embarrassed about, it wasn't a problem. The bar area was cosy & friendly. Bar meal was very...

We stayed the night in the family room on the top floor with our 8 year old twins. From the moment we arrived we were met with wonderful staff.. they are all an utter delight and made our stay very special. Our kids were spellbound whilst being shown around by Patrick the porter. Think creaking floorboards, secret staircases.. can't go...

Thank you for your review. We will share your praise with all the staff concerned. The Mermaid is unique, and "Magical" is a wonderful adjective to describe The Mermaid. Especially for young people, in the family rooms, The Nutcracker Suite and TheHawkhurst Suite, are almost like rooms in a school for Wizards. We hope we can welcome you again in...

We stayed here for two nights and and paid £150 per night (some rooms were much more expensive) for a attractive but small room with a tiny bathroom. I feel this was overpriced but the hotel is very well located and has free onsite parking. The room had all we needed but the bed was also small and not comfortable...

Thank you for your review. The Mermaid was rebuilt in 1420, it is a unique building, that has so many stories to tell, of Shakespeare, Hawkhurst smuggling gang and so much more. As a Grade 11 Listed building it means it may not always reflect some modern expectations. We strive to ensure our guests have an experience that is memorable,...

Loved it here. Went for a drink as was staying nearby and it did not disappoint! So much history here. Absolutely gorgeous inside, tapestries on the wall and paintings of various historical figures. Wish we had stayed here. Can't praise it enough.

Thank you for your review. The Mermaid was rebuilt in 1420, and has been independently owned by the same owners since 1993, who have through loving stewardship, maintained all her historic charms. Lovely olde worldie pub, with great food & nice atmosphere... just a fleeting lunch this time but will stay overnight next time, I heard there's meant to be a ghost-not sure I believe in them, but happy to be disproved!
