I stayed for one night--great environment, wonderful hosts, beautiful dog. The Ashton House is a short walk from the bus stop (where I started), as well as right on the Cotswold Way (what I was walking). The room was cozy and comfortable, and the breakfast was superb.

This beautiful old house displays itself unostentatiously but with great charm and warmth (including a wonderful open fire that the resident dog loves to linger by). This really is the quintessential bed and breakfast experience in a small town that is itself unique.

We stayed at Ashton House for two nights September 23/24th. We had to come back to Painswick and Aston House after staying here while walking the Cotswold Way last year. Philippa and Steve are very welcoming, warm and connecting hosts. Their old home is beautiful with large exposed beams and natural aging in every nook and cranny. Breakfast is in...

Philippa could not have been a more accommodating host, right down to bringing our forgotten phone charger to our next venue! She obviously loves meeting and engaging people, and she and her husband, Steve, seemed like old friends in less than 24 hours; we could not have felt more at home. Though what a "home"! A charmingly renovated, 400-year old...

Philippa and Steve are fantastic hosts at Aston House. They treated us like old friends and shared stories of the area and town. I would love to spend more time there. The room was very comfortable and if you want to learn more of the history of the area, just ask Steve! Breakfast served with special attention to requests and...

While walking the Cotswold Way we stayed at Ashton House for one night. The 400 year old home is simply amazing. On arrival, we were met by the lieutenant, Stephen who said that he was not the expert and that Philipa was out and he offered us tea. We wanted to get out and see the town of Painswick, so...

This was my first experience staying at a B&B and I was not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by Philipa. The tea that was waiting for us was much appreciated as we had just flown a long distance then drove on the narrow roads to Painswick. Philipa gave us recommendations for pubs that we could get something to eat. The...

My wife and I had walked a comforable 12 miles from Seven Springs to Painswick on the 4th day of our Cotswold Way walk. At Painswick we stayed at Ashton House, which is a very old terraced house with lots of character. Our host Philipa was extremely friendly and welcoming. The facilities at the Ashton House are basic; creaky and...

Ashton House is right on the Cotswold Way as it runs through the beautiful town of Painswick. Phllipa and Stephen were welcoming hosts, serving us tea in front of an open fire when we arrived on a rainy afternoon. Breakfast the next morning was also served in front of the fire. Our hosts directed us to a nearby pub for...
