The STAR HOTEL staff Welcomed us with a comfortable nights sleep within a budget friendly establishment just steps away from the heart of Southampton's fabulous Shopping district. We liked the Delicious full Hot English breakfast which didn't disappoint either. Whilst Gaye the Owner alongside Charlie her Assistant / Receptionist are there to meet your every need with their friendly enthusiasm....

Stayed there for 3 nights. Very dated but also very interesting. Shower and bedroom were very clean and the bed was comfortable. Fresh large white towels every day. Close to shops and was able to park the car there. Did not have a bath mat but they do have at the reception desk. Breakfast was very good and the staff...

A very warm greeting from the staff and a room upgrade as they were quiet. The room was large and comfortable although the décor was tired with some peeling wallpaper. This is a very old building that used to be the coaching inn in the late 1700s so some oddness of the architecture is to be expected. It was clean...

I went there with my family for a mini weekend away. It was cheap so I wasn't expecting it to be as lovely as it was. The location was brilliant, right next to all the shops and the ports and some lovely restaurants. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and the rooms were lovely. The hotel is absolutely stunning....

Stayed here for one night. The reception staff were warm and welcoming, the hotel has a lovely old world character. The room was an old one but we'll decorated nd clean. The wifi didn't work for me, and the hot water took a long time to come through. The shower was very low pressure so I needed to move around...

This hotel was absolutely disgusting and shabby. Room was unclean and very dated, everything was falling apart. Staff extremely rude and unhelpful, seemed like they wasn't at all bothered about the state of the hotel. Walls were very thin so you could hear anything and everything going on outside like it was right next to you. Bathroom was vile with...

Stayed in the star hotel on a recent trip to Southampton to catch up with old friends. The room was dirty, the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The bath tub was dirty and falling apart. It looked as if no one had been in the room in years. To get to our room we had to walk through the dining area,...

Friendly staff on reception, nice bar for late night drinks. Very easy for all the local pubs, boats, shops, etc. Very old fashioned but clean. Could do with a bit of a refurb (the breakfast area looked like it had been the same for decades). Pleasant enough and certainly no complaints. The front bar seemed brighter. Loved the fact that...

I love this hotel. It has all the character of ages gone by, with their lovely sweeping staircase and large rooms. So nice in this day and age. Yes it needs a little tlc, but from chatting to the extremely friendly owner, who, unusually runs it herself, this is all being done. She has just finished the renovations on the...
