We went as a family group of ten in 3 tents. We had a great time. Site lovely and clean and not over crowded. There was lots of fun had by all. Furzy gardens was a lovely day out. The children loved hunting for the fairy doors and even made their own fairy gardens when we returned to the campsite....

Too many rules, maybe a consequence of it being the New Forest and there are probably a lot of idiots around who have no idea of the countryside code. It is such a shame the staff have to stop you as you arrive and tell all the things you're not allowed to do, rather than welcome you in with open...

I had never been camping before and my friends and partner planned a surprise weekend away and this place was part of the package. I absolutely loved the sight. The people who run this place take a real pride in their business and cannot do enough for you. They are cleaning the wash block continually and it is a really...

The worst camp I have ever been. Trains go past every 30 minutes. The staff are unfriendly, rude and very very bossy. The facilities are clean but there are not enough for the size of campsite and it is very expensive for a campsite.

Why do people get a job where they have contact with people, when they obviously don' t like them. Horrible, rude staff. Only positive, horses roam wild but you can get this in any New Forest campsite. There are far better campsites than this, with much nicer facilities and lovely staff.

Just returned from a lovely two night stay on this campsite. Campsite was busy, but managed to find a nice secluded spot to camp. I was impressed with how quiet the campsite was - especially being school holidays and a sunny weekend. The loo/shower blocks were located centrally and were well maintained - plenty of soap/loo roll etc and plenty...

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Ashurst Campsite. It is situated in the New Forest and just outside of the village of Ashurst. We took note of previous reviews and sited our tent away from the railway line and the main road, so there was barely any noise pollution. The showers and toilets were regularly cleaned and...

My wife and I have just returned from a six night stay at Ashurst Campsite and I can highly recommend it to anyone, a small minority of the reviews on here have criticised the staff for their attitude, my experience was friendly, helpful staff who helped make our stay even more enjoyable, we even extended by two days as we didn't...

We (I) had initially booked a campsite that I thought looked ideal however on closer inspection noticed I had booked a campsite with no showers or toilets a quick call to management confirmed this and they agreed to transfer us to the ashurst site. When we arrived late Saturday the site was rammed but we managed to find a suitable...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perfect for seasoned or novice campers, this beautiful campsite is set in a woodland glade, surrounded by the majesty of ancient oak trees. Set on the edge of a small area of woodland known as Ashurst Wood, the wood opens up onto Matley Heath, an expanse of New Forest heathland criss-crossed with tracks ideal for walking or cycling. With countless direct routes into the unique New Forest environment via cycle and footpaths, this is a perfect base for exploring local flora and fauna. From the sanctuary of your tent you may be lucky enough to spot deer during quieter times and see the famous New Forest and Shetland ponies roaming freely. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed, however guide dogs are. There is also no electricity, however, there are toilets, a refurbished shower block and a launderette. ... more   less
