Lovely modern clean room . Spotless clean un suite bathroom with nice powerful shower Bed so comfortable i was asleep in seconds. Nice cosy bar that was open till 1am ( part of the reason I was asleep in seconds😁) Just a few minutes walk from multistorey car park and 10 minute walk to theatre. Highly recommended

I found this pub with guest rooms after a very fraught journey full of delays and stress. The man and woman at the bar were very accommodating and helpful. The room I chose was spotless with an en-suite shower room, tea and coffee making facilities and a comfortable bed. Although parking is available in a nearby multi storey car park, it was only a couple of minutes away. The rate was very reasonable and I would like to thank the hosts for their kindness. The beer was great too!

Modern room with all amenities but quite simply, just wasn’t clean. The carpet had stains on it, the armchairs were also stained and torn. There were broken tiles around the fireplace. There was a cafetière but without ground coffee to use with it. The radiators didn’t work so we were freezing. There was dust on some bits of furniture. At first glance the bathroom seemed ok but then we spotted the mould up in the corner. There were parts of the shower knobs that were missing and the plug needs unblocking as the water didn’t drain away. Our friends were also staying in the hotel and they had water marks down the walls where there must have been a leak, an ironing board without a cover, carpet that needed replacing and also dust in corners etc. We didn’t stay for breakfast in the morning as we just wanted to leave as quick as possible.

Arrived to a lovely welcome from the staff here, took our bags and showed us to our lovely clean, fresh, modern room. Well, the breakfast was amazing, one of the best we've had! The dining area was lovely and the continental brekkie was great, but the cooked breakfast was amazing! Will defo recommend and when we visit winchester next we'll be back!

In summary, The music was too loud in the restaurant The service was excellent The food was tasty & well presented But there wasn’t enough attention paid to the small details Expensive Party of 5 friends, on a regular monthly catch up. Mixture of vegetarian & non-vegetarians, but all excited about the entire menu. Presentation was top quality & starters were all met with very approving nods and once completed, high praise. The mains, to a person, created friendly food envy. The disappointment here, whilst extremely mild, was that the delicious fillets were both overcooked by one measure. The rare was medium rare (very little juice)& the medium rare was medium(no pinkness at all) But neither of us made reference as it did not detract from the ambiance at all. (And neither of us are shy about complaining) Throughout, the excellent waiting staff kept us in the loop about other events that were taking place and why things were “slow” coming out. We didn’t think so, as we thought it was very busy & it is what it is. Desserts arrived & this is where disappointments started setting in. There were supposed to be two cheeses on the cheese board, only one came out. With no explanation. The home-made crumpet looked distinctly shop-bought & the cheesecake tasted a little like it had been opened for a while & was a little stale. Then the bill arrived & as usual, the outrageous practice of adding service already, came up. I know you don’t have to pay it, but having 12.5% added to a £40 a head meal is truly taking the piss. It was so strongly disliked we considered complaining about the other niggly things we picked up on. But the majority won out & we said nothing. Overall Debatable whether I would come back due to the prices
