A busy, bustling venue which must be experienced even for a drink or two. We shared a Greek style platter with home-made bread which we all enjoyed. Good quality food and you are allowed to relax, enjoy and order at your leisure from the varied menu. Very popular so booking might be advised. A warm welcome and enjoyable experience. Not...

Visitor or local resident, Ye Old Fighting Cocks is a terrific ancient inn steeped in history packed with nooks and crannies. Incredible atmosphere, great food and drinks. Tucked away from the maddening crowds yet in the shadow of the great Abbey.

Have visited several times in recent months. The Sunday lunch is excellent with good service and this is a lovely historic pub to visit for a drink. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly recommended.

A friend took us to this pub and we are really glad he did. It has a wonderful atmosphere and was worth the drive from Welwyn Garden city. We would liked to have had the time to visit St. Alban's during the day but time simply ran out..

We booked a table at the Ye Old Fighting Cocks for sunday lunch today and really looked forward to it. First of all we waited a very long time for our food and when it came out they brought the wrong meals out! When we received our meals they clearly had been heated in a microwave, there was very little...

I am local to St Albans and I love this old charming pub. full of history and character. Supposedly the oldest pub in the UK which can be believeable when you are sat in the oldest section. There is some great floor plans which show you the dates of the pub sections, have a look at them as it gives...

First of all the food: tasty, not 100% copying all the standard pub food you can get in England, but offering some really special good food. Tuna Grilled Nicoise Salad was superb (best tune steak had in the UK so far). 12oz Lamb Chop was tasty. Salad really fresh. Chicken wing with the right amount of heat. They are really...

Situated by the park in St.Albans this very successful local pub is worth a visit even if it is to experience one of the oldest public Houses in the UK. Serving a varied menu and a selection of good real ales this venue holds a punch of atmosphere below its low oak ceilings. It also has a pub garden but...

My headline says it all really. The queues for drinks were long and slow moving. It was a lovely sunny day so we just wanted to drink outside but wasted time indoors. We decided to buy two drinks each to save having to queue too soon again. Perhaps that is what they want their customers to do! Not that impressed...

I have previously written a review for this pub but feel I need to do it again! I thought I would try one last time to see if anything had changed but no! This pub is dirty and has no atmosphere. Yes it has history but nothing else! We asked the staff to clean the table but after 20 minutes...
