We have been visiting Ambleside for over 15 years and whenever we are there a visit to the Unicorn is a must. It's dog friendly, the staff are great and the food never fails to please. We can't say how great it is to be able to take our dogs in the pub with us. Highly recommended

As the title said this hotel is ideally located in the centre of Ambleside within easy reach of public parking. The rooms are in a pub and are exceptionally cheap for Ambleside. However you get what you pay for, small rooms with no ensuite that are desperate for renovation. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the pub itself is...

As always we enjoy the our stay at the Unicorn, the rooms are clean and tidy , the food is excellent and the staff are very welcoming. We have been coming to the unicorn over ten years and it is still good value for your money. It is near Windermere and you can walk to the lakeside to get the...

Used The Unicorn a few times during our visit. Good selection of beers and reasonably priced food. Staff were always attentive and very friendly. Dogs were also made welcome. Nice wee beer garden out front if the sun decides to show its face.

Stayed here the weekend of 16th April for two night, friends stayed in another room. Staff were very friendly on arrival and you get a complimentary drink as a welcome, thought this was a nice touch. We are her our first night and had the mixed grill with was lovely and how big... Struggled to finish it. There was music...

Ate here last night and the food was utterly yummy. Service was great, fast and friendly despite the fact that it was absolutely packed. We had chicken and steak and the pottions were huge. All round really good value will definitely return.

I have just eaten a fabulous Mixed Grill, which was cooked to perfection! I regularly eat here and I've always received a warm and friendly welcome from the staff! The food is always of good quality! Like every other pub in the area, you do pay for your food upon ordering; which is fairly standard across the pub industry! I...

Who walks in to anything other than the Golden Arches and the like and is asked; not once but thrice to pay before you've got your food? Who asked for a tab; knowing you are going to spend money on a few drinks and grub only to be told you have to pay cash for your drinks, but we can...
