A great place to visit with a good atmosphere and an energetic kitchen turning out good food. Parking spaces available across the road. Plenty of tables inside and out. Some great outdoor tables with a view towards Ambleside.

Second visit and we were not disappointed. Friendly service, fab food and wine, and not a bad price. The food is unusual, but extremely well cooked. Ox cheeks were incredibly tender, and a special starter of mushrooms with truffles was delicious. And finishing with the rhubarb cobbler was a treat. Drove here from Keswick, and it was worth the drive.

We stopped by for lunch, both having a sandwich with chips. The portions were really generous, good selection for veggies and everything was really tasty. Sadly no room for pudding! Pub has a cosy feel, staff are really friendly, kitchen is open and you can sit outside to enjoy the spectacular views. A good selection of local ales and other...

I and my family have spent many happy hours in this famous establishment over the years drinking eating and as hotel guests and every time I struggle to justify the expense. My last visit was May Bank Holiday when I called in for a pint and sandwich with my son after a walk. Whereas not long ago a pint of...

We booked a double bedroom and it was above the bar; there was noise, but we were not bothered by it. Others maybe. The furnishings were impressive, the bathroom amenities quite lovely. We really liked the idea that you could ring for a cup of tea...which we did...In the late afternoon and in the early morning before breakfast(served at 8.30.)...

We stayed two nights on an annual trip with friends. Our rooms were very comfortable and as they were on the ground floor made access for someone with limited mobility very easy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meals were of a very high standard.(excellent breakfast!) Not a cheap place to stay but the overall quality is very...

Whilst staying in one of the Pulwood estate cottages on holiday, we stopped for a quick lunch. we only had a sandwich which was very nice, served on lovely bread that I would have thought had be made on the premises the dinner menu looked very intersting but I gather the place is much more formal in the evenings.

Visited mid week for a 1 night stay due to business in the area. Staff were friendly and polite, the room was comfortable, bright and spotlessly clean and the food was excellent although a little overpriced. I would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon.

Came here to meet friends for dinner and stayed just one night. We had a standard room (no 6), which we had been warned was over the kitchen so would be a bit noisier during working hours, but quiet overnight. Certainly we didn't have an issue with the noise, and it had a good view over the courtyard and the...
