Booked a table for two for my wife's birthday. We found the bar to be welcoming and friendly, nice atmosphere on a Thursday evening. Menu was brought to us and order taken while we sat in the bar. The food was very good, slightly quirky but we had looked at the sample menu online beforehand. The warm beetroot salad was... More

What can I say , my other half found this place though a newspaper article and booked way in advance .. definitely worth it . I myself will almost always choose the steak cooked blue, but at this establishment that option wasn't given to me, so it gave me a chance to explore some excellent cuisine, which was fun. The... We cannot recommend the Drunken Duck enough. We stayed there Saturday and Sunday night in Rm 17, the Garden Room. We ate both nights in the hotel restaurant and the food was exceptional. The service is very informal and relaxed and the room was very comfortable. It is the second time we have stayed at the Drunken Duck in the... More

Had a two night stay here, we had a lovely welcome from Mary who showed us to our deluxe room, which was beautifully appointed. Slept like a log on very comfortable beds and pillows. We ate dinner both nights and the standard of cooking, service and atmosphere was spot on. First time here but we'll definitely be back. Credit to... More

Annual visit to this little gem, with its gorgeous outlook, hop-decorated beams and efficient and friendly staff. The food isn't (pub) cheap but it is great quality (our party of 7 mostly had A+ excellent food, although the mezze platter was a big disappointment, nicely presented but including a barely edible salty humous and very sour tasting baba ganoush -... We have been meaning to visit the drunken duck the past couple of visits to the lakes following a recommendation by a friend. We booked a week in advance to secure a table... I have to say the food whilst been more price than some, was way more tasty than most! It was simply superb eating and I recommend highly.... More

Many friends had recommended the Duck and so on the way up to Edinburgh we stopped in for dinner and a nights stay. We received a warm welcome and were shown up to a lovely room with a courtyard view just above reception. The welcome scone was wonderful and helped us prepare for a late afternoon walk. Lots of walking... More

I rather liked this pub. A very nice range of ales on tap and a nice lunch menu. Staff were also very welcoming. Higher end prices but I must say I did enjoy the food and the portion sizes were plenty, so on balance I'd say it's worth dropping in for a bite if you're on your travels in the... More

We stumbled across this place and it was a great find. Lovely decor and atmosphere and the food was fantastic! The picnic tables at the front have an amazing view and was baby friendly with highchairs available.

Visited here a few times to enjoy a pint of the really good home produced ale after a hard yomp in the mountains ,comfortable bar , lounge, better than a bivvy in the field!!, tempting bottle of champagne on end of beautifully smooth milled Cumbrian slate , will stay a night here sometime , cheers to the cat!!!
