Just back from a fabulous 3 night stay and can’t wait to go back! Room was stunning and very comfortable with quality products, spotlessly clean thanx to the lovely cleaning ladies who left it immaculate and smelling lovely!food was truly exquisite and head chef Aaron Lawrence deserves a special mention for that it was some of the best food me and my husband have eaten, Patrick the food and beverage manager was very professional and friendly and a credit to Rothay Manor !The restaurant staff were all super helpful and knowledgeable about the food being served although didn’t get all they’re names we would like to thank Isaac ,Nadine who has now gone on maternity leave and Joe who impressed us both immensely and we look forward to returning and seeing them all as they made the experience an excellent one

Great rooms, very helpful staff. The location is not as 'remote' as it looks, but nevertheless a nice area with good access. The restaurant food is at a very high level, which sets an expectation that the front of house cannot meet. The waiting staff could not clearly explain what they were serving, which was a shame. The wine pairing was late between courses, and there was no identification/explanation of the wine when it arrived for the second course. On a similar subject, the bar seemed to be at a much lower level compared to the kitchen. Cocktails and spirits were very basic and not well executed. Breakfast was brilliant food-wise, and less was expected from the front of the house, so overall, it was a better experience. In conclusion, some areas of the property rival 5-star hotels, and the food is worth travelling for, that's about it. Room for improvement

What a gem of a place to stay in Ambleside. The hotel itself is beautiful, and all employees were so welcoming and friendly. We didn't have a dog with us, but I was blown away with the dog shower in the boot room, what a lovely touch for those with their pets. We were walk-ins, having had to leave a shocking hotel in Grasmere, and were so lucky to get a room here, it honestly saved our baby moon. Thank you! We didn't eat at The Rothay as we had a booking elsewhere, however, we wish we had after we looked at the menu and the quality of the breakfast the next day. The breakfast was just perfect and we left two very happy customers. We'll certainly be back and can't wait to spend more time here.

Lovely hotel, rooms amazing, breakfast one of the best. Breakfast staff very friendly and attentive, location perfect. Sadly the evening was a disappointment, we had to ask 3 time a for the “All day dining” menu, we were left for 45 mins with nobody attending to us, we felt very uncomfortable, left comments with no reply, our summary is that the hotel doesn’t want casual dining on an evening, we went and got an amazing pizza from up the road

Had the best anniversary weekend at Rothay Manor. Beautiful hotel and lovely spacious rooms. We ate here on the Friday evening for our one year wedding anniversary and the food was absolutely amazing! The venison cottage pie was beautiful. We also ate here on the Sunday and had the best roast dinner I think I’ve ever eaten. The staff were also so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning!

Rothay manor is a beautiful hotel with lovely furnishings and décor throughout and our bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Lovely products in the bathroom and great hairdryer! The food, wine and service was exceptional! We had three fantastic evening meals and the staff were all very accommodating. We look forward to returning soon.

Fabulous. The service is second to none, the staff can't do enough for you. The food was gorgeous & the rooms were very comfortable & clean. 5 out of 5 for everything. Our dog was also very well treated. Many walks can be straight from the hotel rather than getting in your car.

The Rothay Manor provided the MOST memorable stay for my family. Every single member of the team there went out of their way to make it special. We have stayed in over 70 countries in the world and every 5 star hotel in the Lakes. None have touched the attention to detail of the Rothay Manor.
