December 2015 was our 11th stay and the New Dungeon Ghyll having visited every year since 2005. We are going back this December for our annual pilgrimage to what is our favourite place in the UK. We love the food, scenery and the rooms are fantastic. Cannot recommend this enough.

This was our fifth stay at New Dungeon Ghyll and, on reflection, I realise that we have come away refreshed and relaxed because everything was faultless. Becky was on holiday - missed her and her dry sense of humour - but the staff were a credit to her and kept up the high standards. There aren't many places that I... More

We had booked to stay at the hotel for a quiet weekend, walking and enjoying the hotel in its tranquil setting. However a large party of around 20+ were staying with lots of very young children. I appreciate that the hotel is for families too but there was no consideration shown for those without children. The party took over the... More

Great little place tucked into the bottom of the walk up to Harrison stickle etc. Hotel rooms are exactly what a walker needs IMO, comfy with a pint of beer on tap close by. Great breakfast with really friendly service from reception, waitresses and especially the barman. Highly recommended.

What more could you want in the Lake district. This is a nice hotel with lovely grounds and great food. We had full English breakfast, lunch in the bar and dinner in the evening. All the food was very good. If the weather is good its great to sit in the garden and enjoy the views with some very good... More

Am very surprised that this is a 3 star hotel, have been in 3 stars far worse. This is worthy of 4 at least. The staff were extremely attentive and polite (especially the Canadian girl). They all seem to genuinely care about your day and ensure they provided you with the best service. The room was spotlessly clean with a... More

We were recommended to this hotel by friends and weren't disappointed. The staff were all really friendly, the hotel clean and cosy and the evening meals were wonderful. The breakfast was OK. My only slight niggle was that we booked a Superior room and whilst the one we got (15) had a lovely large bed we were disappointed in the... More

We were very well looked after at this hotel for a weekend at half term. The staff were welcoming and excellent with our children. Lovely food in relaxed atmosphere. Have stayed a few times before we had kids and glad to be back with the family.

Food great quality. Excellent gammon stake and chilli con carne. Loved real ale choices. Service was great with good humour. Location was absolutely stunning with beautiful lakeland autumn colours. Will return again.

The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is only new in comparison to the Old DGH, it is from 1862. We had a very pleasant stay there. The rooms are modern and well equipped. The only thing I missed was an elevator and we had to drag all our stuff up a few stairs.
