Yes, this is a hotel but it has a non-residents bar and restaurant. Bar very busy for meals - we took the trouble to book. It was very busy but the service was very quick and efficient. All I can say is that was the best Beef and Ale Pie I have ever eaten! Great atmosphere as well

A very relaxed hotel. The rooms were comfortable and cleanliness of a high standard. The staff were very attentive and nothing was a problem. We ate in the hotel restaurant which was good but a little on the pricey side. All in all a very convienately situated and well appointed hotel. Would recommend.

The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. My room was extremely comfortable and warm with everything I needed. Tasty biscuits every day with the tea and coffee and hot chocolate that was supplied. The food in the restaurant was superb. The hotel has a bar attached which was really good because I was on a walking holiday and...

Situated just north of Ambleside, close to Elterwater Lake and beautiful walking country. The hotel is quite an old building but in good order, apart from the plumbing perhaps which gurgles and splutters rather ! The bed was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was very enjoyable.

Stayed here for a couple of nights on B&B basis in a Superior room. Firstly we were really disappointed in the "superior" room. We expected it might have a view but we looked directly into the rooftop and chimney of part of the hotel (avoid room 23). The bed was comfortable and there were tea/coffee making facilities. It is classes as...

Enhanced by beautiful weather our Art Society visit to the Lakes proved to be near perfection staying at Skelwith Bridge Hotel. As a group of painters the location of the hotel was ideal with the river only a few metres away and the glorious walk to Elterwater a relatively short low level stroll from the hotel. Our bedroom in the...

We have just returned from a two night break at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel having visited it on a number of occasions in the past 30 years or so. This time we went for a reunion with 4 old friends to whom we had recommended the hotel as a good location for exploring the area and we were certainly not...

We have just returned from a 3 night stay as a family group at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel. We are seasoned visitors to the fells and, though the first time we have stayed here, it will rank high among the places we have stayed and returned to. The superior double rooms are excellent and if you want plenty of space...

One night here with dinner b&b. Lovely location about 2m west of Ambleside. Hotel is nice and staff, very friendly. Poor 4G in the area, so the free wifi was very useful. Room was clean and fresh. Plenty of hot water.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel, our room was spacious and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful and it was well located to explore the local surrounds. We walked up the Great Langdale Valley, lunched at the Old Dungeon Ghylls Hotel, we also did the Loughrigg Tarn/Elterwater walk and another into Ambleside. We also...
