Superb friendly hosts....amazing rooms and food to die for. Paul and James have excelled themselves as the perfect hosts for a truly central Ambleside guesthouse. Super value for money, excellent central location and Ambleside's number 1 guesthouse. Can"t wait to return.

Me and my husband had such a lovely few days with Paul & James. They welcomed us into their home and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was perfect and immaculately clean, no detail has been spared with with homemade flapjack in our room and a beautiful decanter with a wee drop of port for a night cap when...

Well what can we say. Just been back to this amazing little hideaway. We stayed here last year and thought we would go back to see if it was as good. It was even better. The attention to detail is just never ending. These guys seriously love what they do and obviously pride themselves in giving their guests a very...

Charming, beautiful and the provision of a super comfy duvet make this my favourite place to stay in the Lakes. The luxurious Stock Ghyll bedroom is decorated in powder blue and has a window seat where you can while away time looking at the brook below whilst sipping the kindly provided port and nibbling Paul's yummy flapjack. The bathroom is...

We had a wonderful couple of days staying at the Waterwheel. Our room was spotless and well appointed. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our hosts were friendly and happy to give recommendations of places to visit in Ambleside. We particularly enjoyed the film and meal deal at Zeffirellis. Thanks - we look forward to a return visit!

Beautifully decorated rooms, fabulous baked delights and delicious breakfasts. Nothing disappoints at Waterwheel Guesthouse. We stayed three nights and will always choose to stay here. It is handy for all the amenities of Ambleside and such a lovely place to stay. Thank you Paul and James.

We stayed at this beautiful guesthouse for two nights in October 2016 and we had a lovely time. Despite arriving late we had a warm welcome and were shown up to our room on the top floor. Attention to detail was amazing - the room was great, with lots of added extras like the port, kendal mint cake, organic hot...
