It's what it says on the tin! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Waterhead last week. The staff were (without exception), friendly, professional and a credit to the management. Joyce gave us a warm reception on arrival, which set the tone and Janet at breakfast epitomised the down to earth friendliness of the hotel. The food was excellent, both...

We spend 2 nights with friends here as part of a travelzoo deal and value for money was great. The hotel is in a good position, the staff were friendly and the guy on reception really helpfull. The niggles were that they obviously knew we were booked in but the heating in 1 bedroom was off so the room was...

I would have no problem in recommending this hotel, the staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was freshly prepared and plenty of choice. The dining room was light and airy and looked out onto the hillside. The hotel was located right on the edge of coniston water so beautifully set. Our room was spacious, spotless and very...

Just returned from a two night break with other family members from this hotel. Hotel in perfect location to coniston. Room was nice but very very hot making it uncomfortable to sleep even with window open and we turned our radiator off, however wouldn't have appreciated a freezing cold room either,so hard to please us all. Staff all friendly and...

Hotel a bit basic as is the bar. Limited choice. But it punches above its weight on food. Had a superb Dinner. Local cheese on the cheese board. Staff lovely. And the hotel is a third of a mile from the town which has 3 nice pubs.

We were looking for a night away from the hustle and bustle of Manchester for New Year without paying traditional New Year's Eve prices - as a result in all honesty our expectations were not that high when we found this great deal at this quirky little hotel! Quaintly old fashioned on the outside and in the public areas -...

I arrived late to a beautiful scene and a room with lake views, the hotel is well maintained and a high standard of hygiene. The staff are more than welcoming and accommodating as at times I’m not the easiest to please once things are not right. The staff, where very friendly and professional. It's the first time in many years...

We received a lovely and genuinely friendly welcome, and were allocated room 6 with views from one window towards Lake Coniston and from another towards the Old Man. The room was lovely, with the most amazingly comfortable four poster bed, but it was cold. We found a heater in the wardrobe, and left it on whilst we walked the 10...

We recently spent a short break here and had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location. Unfortunately the weather was a bit bleak so we weren't able to explore the grounds which would have been nice. The food is good quality and offers a good extensive menu - try...

Not many negatives, we stayed in room 21 – the shower looked the part (large cubical and shower head) unfortunately like most hotels we stop in the power was pretty pathetic, also the toilet seat did not seem to fit properly, that being said neither of the above spoilt our trip. Location; Just perfect, A short 5-10min walk into the...
