The hotel is absolutely charming and takes you back to its Wordsworth origins. We were welcomed with a cup of tea and home-made cakes and a warm log fire - perfect! Our room was small as all rooms were in houses of this age but beautifully furnished and the bed was so comfortable! The breakfast was superb with great ingredients... More

Nestling around halfway between Grasmere and Rydal, the location is great for walkers looking to get away for a long weekend. It is an easy bus journey from Windermere rail station, with 3 buses an hour, and there is some good stuff on the doorstep here. If you want to do much more than a long weekend, you will need... The Wordsworth connection does, of course, give this place a special frisson- but over and above this it is a lovely house with a restrained but stylishly decorated bedroom Number 3, lovely aspect , friendly and attentive staff, good breakfasts and the considerable bonus of being able to walk out of the gardens straight into Wordsworthland.

Look past the Chintz curtains, wallpaper and bedding, and small dated bathroom and you will find a delightful guest house type hotel. The owners are warm and friendly as are the staff. The beds are clean and comfortable. The breakfast, whilst not huge is certainly the best I have ever had. local free range type produce with big thick cut... More

White Moss B&B is nicely situated away and fairly quiet inside (away from traffic). Staff was curteous and helpful; the large common and breakfast rooms attractive and nicely done. However, we stayed in Room 1; an average sized room (with a king sized bed), and tiny bath. We could tolerate the rather worn bed linens, and overcrowding of the room,... More

We were very happy to be able to pull a few strings for these guests from California to book them at the last minute onto a day trip with Mountain Goat Tours ( much better for guests used to large highways than driving round the little Lakeland roads in a hired car). We were also pleased to hear that they... More

A beautifully situated B&B with clean rooms with some (if not all) of the rooms' features retaining the original old aspects of the house (which also meant the bathrooms were somewhat unavoidably v small). Friendly owner and staff too and definitely had an authentic, family-run feel to it. Top highlight has to be the traditional breakfasts though - absolutely superb!

A house owned by Wordsworth, the only one he owned, has to have a head's start in The Lake District B an B stakes. White Moss House is not the Premier Inn of the Lake District, but a house with a history and a cosily, comfortable atmosphere that gets you in the right frame of mind to enjoy this special... More

Our experience at White Moss House was a wonderful one.
