Left it late (good weather forecast) to get a weekend booking for my daughter and me, the last room available. Lovely warm welcome of tea and cakes on arrival, and a quiet, cosy room where everything worked and where we enjoyed an unbroken sleep. A1 traditional breakfasts for us two veggies on the Saturday, excellent food, polite and attentive service....

A very charming house and a wonderful award winning breakfast? The room allocated to us had a window that overlooked the garden and that was pleasant. The house had more than 100 years of history and some of the decorations were left as of that period. Therefore it was quite an experience living in this quaint house despite the squeaks...

Thank you very much! The squeaky floor boards are something we rarely notice ourselves, having lived here so long! We are happy that you enjoyed the quirky charm of our old building, and that you enjoyed our breakfasts. We look forward to welcoming you again.

we got a late booking at white moss for the bank holiday weekend, and when we arrived we were welcomed by Sue with homemade cakes and biscuits and a silver service cup of tea which we enjoyed in the sunny garden. Our room was adequate with a very comfy bed and a well stock tray, the bathroom probably needed updating...

Our recent trip to Grasmere was wonderful, however quite disappointed to stay at White Moss House. We had been told that the room we would be staying in was small but it was very small, the shower room just a cupboard, the shower didn't work properly, the TV remote didn't work properly, the bedcover was old and rather unpleasant satin...

We booked late for a stopover on our way to South Wales On arrival,in the afternoon,we were offered a choice of two rooms .The room we chose had a large comfortable bed, although the bathroom was( in estate agent speak) "compact". A tea and cakes welcome was served "gratis" in the lounge. White Moss has friendly, knowledgeable staff and breakfast was...

White Moss House was recommended to us by some Australian friends who stayed there in 2011. We booked last minute from Edinburgh. Quick friendly response from Sue to our email query. Warmly welcomed by Jade who provided a roaring fire, pot of tea and cake on arrival, plus lots of information about local area. Lovely room at the front of...

We received a warm welcome to this delightful house followed by tea and delicious homemade cakes in the charming sitting room. Our host gave us excellent recommendations for local restaurants and current events, such as fireworks displays. The room was well appointed with very comfortable beds and antique furniture. The breakfast was superb with a good choice such as home...

Perfect retreat for a weekend in the Lakes and to stay in a house once owned by Wordsworth was an extra bonus. Spent two nights and left feeling we had had a week's break. The owner was quite friendly and helpful on arrival, and showed us to our very small room, which was quite cold, despite us turning the radiator and heated towel rail fully on. The decor in the room was quite chintzy, and very dated, although it looked like it was good quality stuff in its day (about 30 years ago). The...

Thank you for alerting us to a problem with the heating in your room. With a new boiler and radiator thermostats the room should have been cosy and warm. We're very sorry that this was not the case. The heating engineer has been and fixed the problem , which is good for future guests but no help to you! Had...
