Such a lovely room in the lodge (treated ourselves) and the hotel staff are so friendly, Weather was glorious, G & T's out in the garden overlooking the lake. Challenging walks up the hills (or mountain ranges as I like to describe them to my very fit friends haha) Food is yummy, and not too expensive. Its the kind of...

Stayed in room 51 , the room was ok and is being refurbished as and when. The windows open fully which is a bonus. Shower over the bath. Very clean and reasonably modern. The main hotel front of house is beautiful, calming and the staff very professional and helpful. We have booked to visit again in November we enjoyed it...

We've stayed at this hotel many many times under the previous ownership & now several times under the new ownership. The changes wrought by the new owners are dramatic & impressive, bringing the property up to date, and bringing the overall feel of the hotel into the modern era. The location of the hotel is perfect - in the lovely...

Oh my gosh, we loved this hotel! We went in summer and Grasmere was of course lovely, but full of tourists. At a friend’s recommendation we went just 5 minutes off the beaten track for lunch at the Grand. It was like another world, so peaceful with nothing but the sound of the sheep barring (or how ever you spell...

Loved this wonderful hotel, with a cool interior, chilled music, exceptionally clean, fantastic staff - smartly dressed, professional and friendly. The food! Wow! Every meal from breakfast, lunch and dinner is a pure delight, presentation is stunning, the flavours outstandingly delicious and served in first class crockery with attention to detail every time. The drinks menu was brilliant and our...

My husband and I stopped in one afternoon last week and, as we had our Dog with us, we sat outside and we hoped to have an afternoon tea. We looked at the menu and then when the waitress came to take our order we asked if they did an afternoon tea. Unfortunately she had never heard of Afternoon Tea...

We chose this hotel to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. Although the hotel was nice enough I thought it was over priced for what we got. We paid extra to upgrade to an executive and the bathroom was very small. We were over the bar which luckily wasn't too loud on the nights we stayed but you could hear the...

This newly refurbished hotel certainly came up trumps on every count. Brilliant service across the board, comfortable and modern public rooms and bedrooms, but most of all, absolutely superb food at dinner and breakfast. Thoroughly, thoroughly recommended!

We have stayed at The Grand before and written reviews but this is our first visit since it changed ownership and was re named, it used to be called the Gold Rill and was always very good but a little old fashioned and what a setting, absolutely stunning. What a difference now, modern decor and superb rooms. From arrival to...
