We stayed for two nights in later February. Absolutely perfect. We were in the Shelley room and ate in the restaurant on the first night. Accommodation and food are stunning and the location is ideal. Just wish we could have stayed a bit longer!

This was the second time we'd stayed but this time we had the pleasure of sharing the hospitality with our good friends. We stayed in Autumn and raved about it so we were lucky enough to return so quickly. If you like beautiful well prepared food stay in don't step foot out. When we stayed before there wasn't our personal...

We always stay here whilst in Grasmere, they have it spot on with tastefully decorated rooms, attentive service and good quality restaurant food. The only problem is trying to find availability! We like the deluxe rooms on the second floor, they are slightly larger with bigger bathrooms, they are also very quiet with views over the hills and the Shelley...

We stayed for 3 nights. Our first night was Valentines so we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. Turned out to be a wise choice as the food was of the highest quality as was the service. The hotel itself has been extensively refurbished in recent years. All the bedrooms are named after poets. Ours was Coleridge. Beautifully light...

My husband and I stayed for bed, breakfast and dinner for two nights one of which fell on valentines day (they do not normally serve dinner on a Tuesday). We chose here because last year we were lucky enough to reserve a table for evening dinner whilst staying elsewhere in Ambleside. The meal then was exceptional as was the service...

From entering the hotel to departure we had a wonderful stay. Welcomed on arrival by the owner Rob with a pleasant 'tea for two' our room was very pleasant - large comfortable bed and all the expected facilities. Dinner was excellent in terms of quality and value and the following morning we both enjoyed a very pleasant traditional breakfast. Location...

My husband and I really enjoyed our two night stay in this lovely, well located hotel in Grasmere. With newly refurnished rooms, an excellent restaurant serving freshly cooked food, brilliant Wifi reception, and super king-sized beds, we had a very comfortable stay. Our room at the top of the house, with en-suite bath and shower, was quiet and restful. The...

'Only' 4 stars as I think our expectations were very high given the precious reviews on TripAdvisor. This is a well located, and very popular, hotel located in Grasmere. The rooms are very clean and nicely furnished; big enough but not overly spacious. The food is very good and service is polite and prompt. well worth a visit but you...
