Went for our first meal of our holiday in Hawkshead with high hopes. When we arrived I ordered a glass of prosecco 'on tap' which was flat and warm. We complained and I was told that the gas had been switched off and another glass was produced but it wasn't much better- if you like prosecco don't bother ordering- it...

A friend and I visited for a meal on a Friday evening with high expectations and left feeling thoroughly disappointed on a number of counts. We started with a glass of prosecco 'on tap' which was flat and syrupy. When we asked if it was as it should be we were assured that it was ( I have drank a...

Very busy pub luckily we managed to book a table. I had a stone baked pizza and it was very yummy. The rhubarb crumble was possibly the best I have ever tasted. Could not fault the food at all. Would recommend booking a table in advance.

6 of us stayed for 4 nights and couldn't fault anything. The rooms were very good standard with very comfy beds and good quality linen. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was also excellent. Loved it.

Room 7: This is over the kitchens - there is a constant load fan noise, far worse than many city hotels for noise level. The fire-escape and out of hours door is directly outside and is commonly slammed. This was made worse in that even in cool outside temperatures the room was very hot even with the radiator turned off...

We called here on Saturday half way through are day of walking and we were not disappointed!! The food was gorgeous and the staff all very polite and helpful. Hawkshead is a lovely place to visit and eating at this pub made the walk even more worthwhile.

Stopped here for lunch after a wet morning walking in Grizedale. What a treat. Just lovely food, very welcoming, prosecco on tap, no music and cosy places to sit. Food was delicious and great menu. Kids loved it too. Wish my cheesecake hadn't been dissected but other than that all lovely.

Excellent service, rooms, bar, restaurant and staff. No complaint or criticism at all, stayed here for two nights in January just in time for a decent snowfall which made our weekend even better. Very attentive manager who wished my wife a happy birthday on arrival and the nice touch of birthday card in our room was an appreciated extra. Champagne,...

We booked this as our final meal of our visit as in previous visits this has been our favourite place to eat. The food was still delicious and freshly made, there was a good choice on the menu, restaurant was dog friendly and the staff were lovely. I felt the kitchen was understaffed though or inexperienced as the custard was...

We stayed her for one night over the Easter period. We were shown to or family room which was next door in the Brown Cow cottage. It had a double bed with tv in one room and a double sofa bed, single bed and tv in another room which was great for the kids. The bathroom was really nice and...
