What a pleasure it has been to book in to this lovely cosy pub. From the intial booking to the checking out the staff have made it a simple breeze, so friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us and she was treated like a princess throughout the visit even presented with a sausage at breakfast. Breakfast was lovely,...

Old style country pub, a shade shabby inside but with good tasty food - we both had the lamb stew with minted mash potatoes at GBP10.95. The other menu selections (quite a lengthy menu) for other guests were observed to have huge portions, as were ours.

Just back from another really great stay at the Red Lion, once again the fantastic staff made our visit, all of them are really friendly and helpful. Stayed for the pub quiz on Sunday night and it was very entertaining (though we didn't do very well). Room was big and comfortable and the food in the bar was really nice....

Stayed here just for one night, we got it via an offer so paid £50 for the night. It was a chilly night, even snowed a little. Firstly the staff are lovely. For what we paid the room was ok, but not very clean. Quite a thick layer of dust over most surfaces. Toilet, bathroom was clean though. We had...

Popped into The Red Lion, as the other pubs nearby were a little busy (and lacked a little charm). The real ale selection there is amazing. The food was amazing too. The bartender asked how I'd like it cooked, which was a pleasant surprise. The welcome and atmosphere were both warm. 10/10. I'll definitely come again next time I'm in...

Had dinner here on Sunday 9th April. Old world interior with bags of character food was fab and a good choice of real ale beers. Paul the landlord was very welcoming and dogs are welcome. Food is served all day.

My partner and I stayed here for three nights. The Red Lion served home comfort food; large portions and reasonable prices. The owners were friendly and welcoming, especially at breakfast; albeit the options were limited.

We arrived for a 3 night stay in this lovely little pub in a great location. Owners were very welcoming, dinners were great value for money and a good size. The rooms were basic, albeit all that you need in such a beautiful location!!! Breakfast for vegetarians were basic - but the service each morning was EXCELLENT!

We called in to The Red Lion for a drink as the friends we were with had recommended the Award Winning Ales served here. We were not disappointed ! Also the Landlord has a room dedicated to Liverpool FC-- full of interesting memorabilia. That added `flavour` to our drinks ! Very enjoyable!

friendly staff. lovely proper home cooked food. Steak pie and chips, loads of meat and proper pie not just a bowl of stew with pastry lid! Also had steaks one lunch time which were really nice cut and cooked perfectly. Would recommend for evening meal or a quick drink after a days walk.
