Popped on on a very wet saturday to have lunch..very traditional pub and friendly staff nice warm welcome..the menu was straightforward - good pub grub..none of that fancy overthe top descriptions making it out to be something it is not...the food was equally good and straightforward..I had the cumberland chicken really good sized portions..none of that fancy presentation just that...

This pub is just want you want from a pub in the lakes, warm and cosy with proper pub grub! Food is excellent and the most reasonably priced of the four pubs in Hawkshead. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

This place is a really comfy pub to drop into for a good hearty plate of food, the home made steak pie is really tasty and you get a big enough portion of it as well. They have a good range of ales and the staff are chatty and friendly.

We went here for dinner and had the steak pie and the sausages and mash. Both were very big portions, lots of lovely veg and gravy. The sausages weren't quite to my taste but still tasted nice. It wasn't cheap at £12 for the pie and mash, but it was good quality so I didn't mind paying that sort of...

We stayed in the Lake Lodges but popped in a couple of times during our stay. I went in with my 6 month old daughter one afternoon and the staff and owner were so friendly! Went for a meal the next day which was great too. Lovely pub and well priced.

I went with a group of friends and we took up most of the rooms for the weekend. Staff were very friendly and made us most welcome as a return visit. It's an old historic pub in the village and not top of the range but my single room was basic, warm, clean and with a comfortable bed and ensuite...

this is a cosy pub with a log fire and cosy lounge , we ate there twice in our stay in the lakes and found the food to be average to good but not worth the prices charged. I know the prices are similar in all pubs nowadays but once you get past the £12 threshold for a main it...

We have only ever been in here for a drink before but yesterday that all changed when we decided to have lunch. everyone apart from the 5 year old cleared their plates. (ok I had some chips left...
